Xray Column – Never-ending Development

The 57th installment in the Xray column from Xray owner and chief designer Juraj Hudy is now online. In this months column, Juraj talks recounts the development of the new T3’12 integrating many of the suggestions given by Xray customers.

Ah, the servo saver… this is another part which we improved after feedback from customers who wanted to get more precise high-speed steering and as such we changed to a 4-spring servo saver which is certainly an improvement, another part made based on the requests from customers.

Traxxas EZ-Peak Plus AC/DC charger

The Traxxas EZ-Peak Plus is a 6-amp, fully-programmable, AC/DC charger designed for fast and easy charging of LiPo, LiFe, LiIon, NiMH, NiCd, and even lead-acid battery packs. Sophisticated peak-detection technology with Fast Charge, Balance Charge and Storage modes assure peak performance from high-performance lithium batteries. A large, backlit LCD screen and simple four-button interface makes it easy to select charge modes and program the EZ-Peak Plus. Five Charge Profiles customized for Traxxas NiMH and LiPo packs are pre-installed, and can be edited to suit individual needs and preferences. Charge a variety of battery types, without re-programming, just select your profile and go. The included JST/XH balance board allows the cells in LiPo packs to be charged and discharged individually, assuring maximum capacity, power, performance, and cycle life.

Max RP9.0 Racing edition .21 engine

More new engines, this time Max Power has released their new for the 2012, the RP9.0 Racing edition .21 on road motor. This top of the line 3.5cc power plant feature a 14mm lightened and balanced tuned crankshaft, CNC machined piston and a 9 port sleeve. A new for 2012 super light cooling head and aluminium carburetor with oval insert and double low range setting needles completes the package.

Shepherd tires by Matrix

Shepherd Micro Racing has introduced another line of foam tires, ‘Shepherd tires by Matrix’. For several reasons they are a class of their own. Already before the first step of the production an intensive quality management ensures an excellent performance of the tires as all raw material are checked with special equipment to guarantee the correct shore hardness. The computer aided manufacturing makes sure that all tires meet the high quality standard. A special lightproof and airtight packing foil allows the tires to be stocked for a long time without affecting the quality or performance of the tires. The final result is a tire that has excellent traction combined with low tire wear. They will be available on white standard rims as well as on black carbon rims. The carbon rims are about 12% lighter while the stability is also increased.

Sonic V.21B 3.5cc buggy engine

More news from Sonic Nitro Engines with details on the Sonic V.21B 3.5cc buggy engine. All components have been made from the finest materials to ensure high durability and reliability. Equipped with a 5 ports sleeve and a CNC machined flat piston, the engine provides great power over the entire RPM range while having a very efficient fuel consumption which can be crucial in the finals. The 14mm turbo crankshaft is filled with a silicone insert to reduce the inertia and improve the fuel flow while the optimized crankcase and the the “knife edged” aerodynamic connecting rod help even more to reduce turbulences inside the engine. A special turbo combustion chamber with a cooling fin and the super lightweight cooling head ensure best heat dispersion to keep the engine temperature at a moderate level. Xray XB9 coming soon

Xray are running a teaser on their site, and also on their advertising banner on our site, for the upcoming XB9, the follow up to the successful XB8 1/8th scale buggy. We have no information on the new car, but we would expect that because they have used an all new series number that the car will be a completely new platform. The Slovakian company signed multiple European Champion Renaud Savoya back in September, could this already be the first results of that collaboration?
