Hobbytech Spirit STR8 1/8th scale buggy

Hobbytech have released CAD images and details about their new 1/8th scale buggy the Spirit. Everything on this new offroader is compact and centralized to make this buggy more responsive on the track and easy to work off the track. Manufactured with high precision aluminium and carbon fibre parts, there was no compromise in delivering the highest quality off road racing chassis. Every aspect of the car was designed and tested to produce maximum performance, everything down to the last screw has been optimised for maximum lightness.

Durango release details of DNX408 body shell

Durango are claiming that their DNX408 1/8th scale has the lowest bodyshell around. This has many benefits, like low centre of gravity, minimal frontal area to punch through the air, more air flow over the rear wing etc, but it also helps with heat management. The engine head in a DNX408 gets the most direct clean airflow of any car, plus the body is designed to direct as much air as possible over the bodyshell at the engine head, rather than through the body. The central engine and low bodyshell mean that all shock bodies are also in clean airflow. The rear wing is as close to the rear wheels as possible, thanks to the forward shock position, this drives the down-force directly to the rear wheels. Too many wings on 1/8 buggies are way out back which means more wheelies than down-force.

O.S. Engines .21VZ-B V-Spec Limited edition

O.S. Engines have released this limited edition .21VZ-B V-Spec engine that will mark this succesful engine’s final production run with a total run of 300 pieces. The V-Spec LE will utilize the specially modified cooling head from the Speed II World Championship engine, that has been anodized in a very stunning gold and which will feature sixteen machined holes for lighter weight and more efficient cooling. To top it all off, the head will feature custom graphics to signify all four IFMAR World Championships and each engine will be individually numbered. This special run will only be available from U.S. based dealers.

Schumacher Cougar SV update

Further to the information released 2 weeks ago on the Cougar SV 2wd buggy, Schumacher have released another couple of shots of this new car which is due to be released in the Spring. The British company have confirmed officially what we suspected, that the car is mid motored and packed with some really great features, which they will release more news on soon.

Factory Team SC10 lightweight ball differential

Team Associated have announced the introduction of the Factory Team ball differential specifically designed for the SC10. Once built, the differential fits directly into the stock SC10 transmission case without any modifications. Racers have long enjoyed the handling benefits that a ball differential offers. For nearly 30 years, competition electric off-road cars have been equipped with them, and for good reason, ball differentials improve handling consistency over bumpy surfaces while increasing cornering capabilities. Each outdrive is machined from hardened steel for exceptional durability, then lightened to reduce rotating mass. The outdrives are also available separately so that current T4 and B4 differentials can be upgraded for use in the SC10.

Xceed 1/8 scale buggy bodies

Xceed have announced that they are selling a new line of buggy shells. Superb Italian design, performance is what counts and these feature great balance for jumping and top-speed. Made from high quality lexan with very detailed lines, they fit the specific car like a glove, sitting very low on the car. Most come in standard 1.0mm or light 0.75mm material and are available for the Losi 8ight, Xray XB808, Mugen MBX-6, Kyosho MP9, Associated RC8, HB D8, Hobao Hyper 9 and HN/OFNA X2. Xceed Masterfix Pipes & springs

New from Xceed, and made in Germany, their new range of Masterfix pipes are super strong, high performance pipes that work on the most popular model car engines like NR, Max, Picco, Mega, Sirio and more. Available for 1/10th and 1/8th on road and 1/8th off road, the pipes are CNC machined instead of being pressed into shape, the advantage being that they are stronger, consistent and a higher quality aluminium can be used. The parts of the pipes are then precision soldered together with top quality pressure nipple and flanges. The supplied springs and silicone seals are also of superb quality. Under the Xceed MF line Xceed also offer some special made exhaust mounting springs and .12 and .21 long exhaust springs in normal way and a new version which allows a nicer fit between engine and carburetor.
