Jamie Hall takes EssexCarpetClash Rd2

Last weekend saw round 2 of the EssexCarpetClash championship take place. The track was a little challenging in places to get a perfect lap, but was rewarding when you did. After 4 rounds qualifying, Jamie Hall showed his talent by topping the time sheets for all rounds with his Associated. The rest of the field would then place their best times to get as high up the 8 field grid for the 3 legged finals. William Venables managed to secure second on the grid with his Associated ride, while Yasir Mughal had a good consistent qualifying to place third ahead of fellow Yokomo driver Harley Eldridge. The finals would go the same way as qualifying for Hall, never looking back and taking all leg wins in the finals. Mughal would get caught up with a few errors in the finals, where as Eldridge would keep her head and run clean, managing to finish second in two of the finals. Venables would complete the podium in third, where his second place finish in leg 2 would be a key counting score.

Venables wins at EssexCarpetClash Rd1

Round 1 of the popular Essex Carpet Clash events took place last weekend for its third series at a new venue, in Brentwood Essex, south of the UK. The larger hall greeted the racers allowing for social distancing to take place for all attendees running 2WD (being the only class this series). The track had a flowing layout with nice features and jumps allowing for racing and a satisfying lap. Last year’s champion Ellis Stafford, hit the ground running taking all 4 qualifying rounds and giving him pole position for the 3 leg finals. The finals would make for some awesome, exciting and close racing. Pole man Stafford would only be able to take 2nd overall, following little mistakes in the finals meaning he had to fight his way back through the field. 2nd placed qualifier William Venables would walk away with the overall round win having decent and consistent finishing positions. But this wasn’t made easy for him, as he had to hold off a fast chasing Harley Eldridge who finished 3rd overall, in some close extremely close racing.
