Hughes wins at Thornhill Championship Series Rd3

Round 3 of the Thornhill Championship Series was held this past weekend. In the very competitive Expert E-Buggy class it was Justin Coral with the TQ from Quincy Hughes 2nd and Jerry Dean Junior 3rd. With P2 to P6 all finishing within some 2.5 seconds the stage was set for entertaining A-mains with Quincy Hughes ultimately coming out on top after the double mains, courtesy of two wins, from Smiley Henn 2nd and Rocco Margiotta 3rd.

Chris Simkiss wins NWN Truggy title

The final round of the North West Nitro Winter series was held recently and it was Chris Simkiss who would walk away with the overall title in the Nitro Truggy class. Andy Beaumont would end the series on the runner-up spot from Mick Fallows who rounded out the top 3.

Marcus Kaerup takes double Winterseries titles

The final round of the Danish RC Kongen Winterseries was held this past weekend and it was 10-years old Marcus Kaerup (Team Associated) who walked away with the double TQ, double win and double championship titles. At the final round Marcus would leave behind Frederik Hovgaard (Yokomo) and Pelle Culmsee (HB Racing) in 4WD as well as Jonas Kaerup (Team Associated) and Frederik Hovgaard (Yokomo) in 2WD to seal the championship title sweep.

Modelix Racing sign Kilic brothers

Modelix Racing from Spain have announced the signing of Germany’s off-road frontrunners Burak and Berkan Kilic to their team. The two will be using Nitrolux fuel and Ultimate Racing accessories and in addition they will be supported by German Modelix Racing distributor JSB Modellsport.

Micha Widmaier doubles in Leonberg

The annual 1/10th Electric Off-road race in Leonberg, Germany was held recently and it was SWorkz’s Micha Widmaier with the double TQ in the 2WD and 4WD Buggy classes. Winning all six A-main events secured Micha a double win for a clean sweep with Yokomo’s Aaron Münster taking the runner-up spots in both classes. Team C’s Sven Zünd would round out the 2WD podium while Xray’s Ales Schmitt completed the 4WD top 3.

Lutz dominates EP Buggy in China

Completely dominating the Electric Buggy class here at the SIGP in Xiamen, southern China, Ryan Lutz took all qualifiers and the first two of 3 A-mains to wrap up the overall win early. In a league of his own, the winning margin after 5 minutes for the Tekno driver over 2nd place Yusuke Sugiura was 11 seconds in the first main, and 7 seconds over Sunpadow backed Kaja Novotny in the 3rd main. With the US driver sitting out A3, Sugiura would take the win in the final A-main to secure the runner up spot, while a disappointed Kaja took the final spot on the podium in 3rd place. Chen Guanxian, Jonathan Yeung and Chinese National Champion Hu Weiping would complete the top 6.

Double pole for Ryan Lutz in Xiamen

Confirming what everyone suspected following Rd1 of Practice, Ryan Lutz has taken the top qualifying spot in Nitro Buggy in Xiamen, China. Despite not improving on his Q1 time the Tekno driver continued to better his best lap time each round to end with a 33.542. Yusuke Sugiura would take the final round just ahead of Lutz but a number of mistakes meant he also didn’t improve his result. Wataru Takashiro ended in 3rd overall with his Q2 time, having a difficult time with traction rolling in the final round. The biggest improvement for the round came from both Kaja Novotny, who secured himself 4th overall, and Chen Guanxian who took 5th, both drivers have 12 plus second gain.

Ryan Lutz TQs EP Buggy in China

Ryan Lutz is the top qualifier of EP Buggy at the 2018 SIGP in Xiamen, China having taken Q2 which along with taking Q1 locks in pole position for Sunday’s triple A-mains. Putting in a blistering run on the ARC International Raceway, the Tekno driver took 4 seconds off his Q1 time and set the outright track record with a 32.904 second lap, the only driver to drop below 34 seconds in qualifying. It was a familiar order behind with Kyosho driver Yusuke Sugiura taking 2nd place, with Kaja Novotny a further 11 seconds back in 3rd with Chen Guanxian and Shin Dongcheol completing the top 5.
