2015/16 Mibosport Cup Winter Series – Announcement

The 2015/16 season of the popular Mibosport Cup Winter Series will kick off on the weekend of the 31st of October in Hrotovice, host of the opening round of the 2015/16 ETS. Attracting 400 drivers in total including the likes of Ronald Völker, Marc Rheinard, Tom Cockerill, Yannic Prümper, Michal Orlowski, Martin Bayer and Hupo Hönigl last year’s series was great success. This year the series is run in the six classes of Touring Car Modified, Stock LRP, Formula, 1/12th scale as well as 2WD and 4WD Buggy and the rules will see some modifications as the Modified Touring class will now use mandatory Volante tyres while the off-road drivers have to use Schumacher tyres. Also new for the season is the carpet, with the on-road races will be run on black ETS carpet while the off-road track is laid out with the same carpet as used at the opening round of the 2015/16 EOS. Gary Baird takes 2015 Irish 1/8th Off-road Champs

Gary Baird takes 2015 Irish 1/8th Off-road Champs

The final round of the Irish 1/8th Off-road National Championship was held on the astro turf track in Navan. The usual weather playing games had the drivers need sun cream for the Saturday and a wet suit for the Sunday. Qualifying was mixed for a lot of drivers. The new astro they laid in Navan had plenty of gaps in it that randomly spun your car, but also rubber balls instead of sand, so it smelt delightfully of melting rubber. The man on a mission Alan Scroggie took TQ with pretty impressive runs. Andrew McClean would line up 2nd looking very controlled and starting to give the older drivers a lot to think about while Gary Baird would line up 4th and Barkley 6th. Three of these drivers were separated only by 2 points in the overall championship.

Jarred King takes NSW 4WD Buggy State Title

The 2015 NSW Electric Off-road State Championships were held in the usually hot and sunny Maitland although the weather was very different this time around. Saturday started off with a dry and slippery track but overnight downpour mixed things up for Sunday’s race day. Racing didn’t got underway till lunchtime but then another healthy downpour stopped racing until around 2 pm. The organisers decided to reduce qualifying to three rounds and the finals to two legs meaning the fastest time would win the title. Q1 of the 1/10th 4WD class saw Mitchell Steer coming out fastest from Jarred King, and also Q2 would see Mitchell coming out fastest meaning an early overall TQ for him. Behind Steer, the race was on for the 2 spot on the grid between Jarred King and multi-national champion Josh Pain. At the end Josh grabbed the round TQ in Q3 to take the runner-up spot after the qualifiers from Jarred.

Cole Ogden wins at Southern Nationals

Cole Ogden wins at Southern Nationals

The Southern Nationals were held over the weekend in Louisiana. In the Pro Buggy class Cole Ogden (TLR) took the TQ in the first two rounds of qualifying. The start of the main final then was a toss up; people were switching spots and wrecking everywhere. Cole cased the back double and lost the lead to Ryan Lutz (Tekno) on the first lap, only to regain it after dodging a wreck on the front straight. Cole continued to stretch his lead and lapped the field at about 20 minutes. Around that time, he made small mistake and flipped upside down, the marshall slipped and almost fell on Ogden’s car but stuffed his pipe in the process. Cole flamed out, got refired and got back on the track right in front of the epic second place battle between J.R. Mitch (TLR) and Joe Bornhorst (Tekno). Ultimately Cole maintained a good lead till the finish to take the win from Ryan Lutz in second and Joe Bornhorst in third.
