Grenland Cup 1/10 Buggy – Report

Grenland Cup 1/10 Buggy – Report

The third round of the Grenland Cup 1/10th Electric Buggy Cup was held in Skien, Norway. Local hero Joakim Nicolaisen set the pace in the qualifiers to put his Team Associated buggy in front of the Xray XB2 prototype of Malin Karlsen, who had a maiden outing in the 1/10th Buggy Cup. The first of the triple A-mains had Joakim scoring an easy win after an early mistake of Malin who only managed a 3rd place at the end as her buggy became difficult to drive during the race. Simen Halstensen came in 2nd in the opening A-final. A2 had again Joakim coming out successfully which handed him the day’s overall win early. Behind him Malin again made a mistake early in the race which denied her to challenge Joakim for the win but she was able to hold Simen behind thanks to a new set of tyres that made her buggy more constant to drive. In the last A-main Malin was finally able to take the win after a series of early mistakes by Joakim. Behing Joakim Nicolaisen (Team Associated) Malin Karlsen (Xray) ended the day on the runner-up spot while Simen Halstensen (Team Associated) rounded out the podium in 3rd.

Yuichi Kanai leaves RB

Yuichi Kanai leaves RB

In a Facebook statement Kyosho’s Yuichi Kanai has announced his departure from his engine suppliers RB. The split isn’t that unexpected as the French company recently underwent some sort of restructuring and has since went out of business. As for Yuichi the forthcoming French Kyosho Masters will be his last event for and with RB with more information about his future power unit suppliers being awaited shortly after. This is what Yuichi has to say about the situation:

I leave the RB. The RB was a splendid engine. It becomes last to use an RB in France Kyosho masters of the next week. Thank you very much so far.

Belgian SCT Cup Rd2 – Report

Belgian SCT Cup Rd2 – Report

Round 2 of the Belgian SCT Cup was held at the astroturf track of the BPT club on a technical yet fun layout. As usual the event was run very smoothly and due to the track being in the shadow in the early hours of the day the qualifying started with a wet and slippery surface but from round 2 on the grip came up, making for ideal racing conditions. In Pro2 qualifying Nicolas Evens (TLR) swept all three qualification rounds to take the TQ from Philippe Hautecoeur who put his mid motor converted Team Associated truck on the 2 spot for the finals. Behind the two ten drivers were covered by only 5 points meaning that getting into the A-final was not an easy task. At the end Laurent Halluin (Team Associated) would end up in 3rd place ahead of Pascal Bouffioux (Team Associated).

Boots doubles at BRCA Truggy & E-Buggy National

Boots doubles at BRCA Truggy & E-Buggy National

This past weekend the BRCA Truggy and E-Buggy National was held at the new Wakefield track. The team had managed to turn at track from flat to a raceable venue in only 8 weeks with a tiny team of workers. With the track being very loose it was a different experience for the drivers and Elliott Boots was able to make the best of it by coming out fastest in the opening Truggy qualifier. The two other runs weren’t so great for Elliott, breaking the car in round 2 and being stuck in traffic in round 3 and this handed the Jack Embling the pole position for the finals which was further helped by some computer issues. At the start of the 30 minute Jack made a small error over the first jump section allowing Elliott to slip through. From that moment on the Boots controlled the remainder of the final and he was able to finish the main one lap ahead of the 2nd place driver.
