Naoto Matsukura and Yokomo part ways

Naoto

Multiple IFMAR 1/12th World Champion and current Electric Touring Car World Champion Naoto Matsukura today announced his shock departure from long term sponsor Yokomo. The protege of RC legend Masami Hirosaka has been under contract with the Japanese manufacturer for the last 10 years and it us understood that both parties parted ways amicably. When contacted the Japanese star gave no information about his future plans or his reason for leaving but it is strange timing with the Yatabe Arena in Japan, Yokomo’s own track, hosting the 1/10th EP offroad Worlds next October. More information as we get it.

Ellis Stafford renews with Team Losi Racing

Horizon Hobby announce that Ellis Stafford has extended his contract with Horizon Hobby and TLR for the 2015 race season. Ellis has been the lead figure for the 1/10th scale team in the UK with some great results in his first season and with this experience he will be looking to better this years performance undoubtedly. He will continue to provide feedback on the UK race scene to the team in the states as well as developing set ups and contesting in the UK national series as well as the Euros that are to be held at the RHR facility amongst regional and club events.

Tyler Hook wraps up RC Pro Series Titles

The RCPro Series finals and Toys for Tots race was held this past weekend and it the 1/8th E-Buggy class Tyler Hooks was able to take the overall TQ over teammate Brian Henn. The two would fight it out taking 1-2 which would give Tyler the overall RC Pro Series Title. Tyler then would start 2nd in the 1/8 E-Truggy class and he would handily take A1 and A2 to wrap up his second RC Pro Series Title of the weekend.

Miguel Matias doubles at RC Oeste Birthday race

The RC Oeste 3rd Birthday Race saw Xray’s Miguel Mathias taking the win in both the 2WD and 4WD Buggy classes in front of runner-up Fabio Ramos (Team C). Goncalo Melo (TLR) rounded out the podium in the 2WD class while Pedro Dias (HB) completed the top 3 in the 4WD category.

Lloyd Storey wins 2WD at SWS Rd3

The 3rd round of the popular Silverstone Winter Series was held at their indoor astroturf track in Northampton. As ever, the Silverstone team built a challenging yet flowing track to test the full entry of drivers. In the main 2WD class, Lloyd Storey and Nathan Waters took all four rounds of qualifying, with two each. Lloyd took the overall TQ by virtue of the faster time over 5 minutes, and would line up on pole for the A final. Nathan stayed on Lloyds tail for the entire length of the final, but Lloyd managed to take the win just ahead of Nathan, closely followed by Kev Lee in 3rd.

Taylor Petersen doubles at The Lone Star Classic

The Lone Star Classic was held at Indy R/C World in Garland, TX which attracted some of the top Pros from nearby states. TLR’s Taylor Petersen dominated both Pro classes with a pair of TQ’s once qualifying was finished. Petersen then was able to drive both his TLR rides to victory in the gruelling long main events.

Amezcua doubles at Mexican Off-Road Regionals

The final round of the Mexican Off-Road Regionals took place at Colima, Mexico with drivers from Colima, Guadalajara, Monterrey, and Puerto Vallarta in attendance to battle it out in the classes of 1/8th Nitro Buggy and Nitro Truggy. Rafael Amezcua took the TQ in the Buggy class but suffered a flameout at the start of the main, causing him to start late. After fighting his way up the field in dominating fashion Rafael was able to take the win despite the bad start into the final and he left fellow Mugen racer Javier Cabildo behind in 2nd. Jose Lopez rounded out the podium in 3rd.

Xray sweep Slovakia Cup Rd2

The 2nd round of famous Slovakian Cup was held at the prestigious Hudy Arena in Trencin, Slovakia. In the Touring Car Modified class it was David Nemcek who got his maiden 1st place finish this year at the Slovakia Cup after coming in 2nd at the season opener. David is now leading the overall ranking with a 12 points margin. The runner-up spot at round 2 went to Igor Liptak while Oliver Havranek rounded out the podium in 3rd.
