Team C’s Hupo Honigl TQ’d the opening round of 2WD qualifying at the Euro Offroad Series this morning in Wels, Austria. The only driver to complete 15-laps over the 5-minute qualifier, the Austria headed both his rivals for the overall EOS Championship title with Naoto Matsukura and defending champion Joern Neumann completing the Top 3.

Joern Neumann is the top seed for qualifying at the season finale of the Euro Offroad Series in Austria. The Team Durango driver putting both his buggies top of the timed practice time sheets on the opening day of the Modelbau Wels event. Unable to better the 3-consecutive laps time he set in the first of the two timed runs, the German will lead away the first round of qualifying from Team Yokomo’s Naoto Matsukura who was able to improve his 2WD slightly on his final practice run with team-mate Lee Martin also improving to move up to third ahead of 2WD title contender Hupo Honigl. In 4WD the second timed practice saw little change at the top with the four unable to better their times, the biggest improvement coming from Yokomo’s Shin Adachi would ended the day 5th fastest, the same position he would claim in 2WD.

The Euro Offroad Series season finale officially got underway in Wels, Austria, today where there is to be a showdown for the title of both 2WD & 4WD Buggy. The third season of the championship for 1:10 electric Offroad, to date it has only ever crowned one champion, that being Team Durango’s Joern Neumann. The back to back champion of both buggy classes, this weekend the German is in contention for a hat trick although in 2WD with no wins this season mean the European Champion is only in with an outside chance against Round 2 winner Naoto Matsukra and Round 1 winner Hupo Honigl. In 4WD Buggy Neumann’s only title challenger is European Champion Martin Bayer who at Round 3 of the championship in Slovakia last month ended his unbeaten 9 win run in the class.

Team Associated introduce the new ProRally 4WD brushless-powered RTR rally car out of their Qualifier Series of kits. The sport-level chassis comes factory-assembled and is based off the ProLite 4×4 platform, offering full-time 4WD in a modular composite tub chassis, long suspension arms, heavy duty gear differentials, front steel CVA and rear dogbone driveshafts as well as adjustable steel turnbuckles. The ProRally comes including a Reedy 550-SL 3500kv brushless motor, XP SC900-BL water-resistant 90A speed controller and a 7-cell Reedy NiMH battery pack. The Tri-County Summer Sizzler off-road series will take place during June and August at Trains and Lanes Hobbies, Mushroom Bowl RC, and Hobbyhut Raceway who are all working together to provide racers with a local 3-race off-road series. Each individual race will have door prizes, provided by race series sponsors, raffled off to entered racers with cash awards will be presented at the last race. The series sees Nitro Buggy, Nitro Truggy and E-Buggy classes along 4WD SC, 2WD SC Modified and 2WD SC Young Guns. The series kicks off on the 7th of June at the Mushroom Bowl Speedway in Kennet Square, PA. More information about the series along with the other race dates can be found here and here.
Xray announce that young up and coming off-road talent Malin Karlsen has joined their junior team. Malin is an 8 year old girl from Norway who has shown an exceptional talent. Malin will be racing all Xray off-road buggies in her upcoming campaign that will include the EFRA 1/10th Buggy Euros, the 1/8th and 1/10th Nordic Champs as well as the Swedish Nationals and Cup Series.

Round 2 of the South Californian Jimmy Babcock Racing League took place last weekend at the Coyote Hobbies Raceway in Victorville. The one day event saw the attendance of Pros and talented local racers alike and had Cody Turner taking the win in the highly contested 2WD Modified Buggy class. TQ Ryan Cavalieri scored a DNF making way for runner-up Cody who left Kevin Motter and Rudy Rico behind.

Canada’s Ty Tessmann (Hot Bodies) had an amazing Easter weekend at the Neo ’14 in the UK, leading almost the entire 45-minute A Final to win the main event, plus winning not just the electric buggy race but the Dash for Cash race as well. On Day 2 after 3 rounds of qualifying that saw different drivers and cars taking the top spot, Team Tessmann started cranking up the pressure, starting with the ‘Dash4Ca$h’ race, a single 10-minute race with a fat cash prize. Ty waited for the crashes to sort themselves out and from second place on the track homed in on the leader, who was powerless to stop the young Canadian from running off into the distance. Ty then took his first victory of the Neo.
