Drake wins at 2014 Hitec Trophy Chase Rd4

The 4th round of the 2014 Hitec Trophy Chase took place this past weekend in Chula Vista, CA. at the Heritage R/C Park with a total of 80 racers signed up for the event. Rocket round qualifying was used to set the grid for the 30 minute expert nitro mains. Adam Drake TQ’ed nitro Truck and Sean Gaffney TQ’ed nitro Buggy. In the Truck final Team Losi Racing’s Adam Drake led from start to finish and TLR teammate Brian Sullivan finished second. In the Buggy final Sean Gaffney lead the first couple of laps with Drake on his bumper. Drake took the lead after a mistake from Gaffney and Drake started to pull away lap after lap and eventually won the 30 minute final by nearly a lap.

JConcepts Spring Indoor Nationals – Announcement

The 2nd round of the JConcepts Indoor National Series will take place on the weekend of the 13th of April in Tacoma, Washington. For the 2014 Spring Indoor Nationals event, Scott Brown and the Tacoma crew will be burning the midnight oil providing the racers with the track, layout and facility known as one of the best in the Northwest portion of the United States. It is predicted that drivers will travel in from as many as 10 different states to compete. Many of the popular classes of competition will be offered featuring all the 1/10th off-road and short course classes. Mibosport Cup 2013/14 Rd6 - Report

The 6th and final round of the Yokomo-backed Mibosport Cup Winter series was held in Hrotovice. A total of 135 drivers signed up for the event, with 78 drivers attending in the on-road and 57 in the off-road classes. Yokomo’s Ronald Völker came as a special guest to compete in the off-road and touring car modified classes. In the latter 16 drivers battled for the win with Ronald dominating the qualifying and eventually taking the TQ with a comfortable gap. The finals then where no exception as the Yokomo/LRP factory driver finished 1st in all three A-main legs. However there was quite a tough battle among Zdenko Kunák, David Nemček and Jirka Višín behind Ronald. In all three A-mains, Zdenko Kunák finished second and David Nemček came in third making this also the final standing.

Alex Zanchettin wins at Italian Buggy champs Rd1

The national Italian Nitro Buggy championship kicked off last weekend at the Naxos World track. TLR’s Alex Zanchettin took the TQ and started off strong into the final. Alessandro Stocco, Davide Ongaro and Riccardo Berton tried to follow while Davide Tortorici fall back to the end of the field following some some first lap contacts. 20 minutes into the race Alex was still in the lead while Berton and Ongaro battled for second place. Tortorici and Stocco where in a fight for the fourth place while on top the positions seemed cemented with Alex, Riccardo and Davide being the top 3. With 10 minutes to go Riccardo Rabitti and Fabrizio Teghesi battled for forth but up front Alex Zanchettin (TLR) took a never endangered win in front of Riccardo Berton (Kyosho) and Davide Ongaro (Mugen). Riccardo Rabitti (Radiosistemi) and Fabrizio Teghesi (Kyosho) finished 4th  and 5th respectively.

Marc Rheinard to run Xpert RC servos

Xpert RC announce the signing of 3-times IFMAR Electric Touring Car World Champion Marc Rheinard to run the company’s high-performance servos. The Tamiya factory driver will use Xpert RC’s PI-3401LV servos during his upcoming Touring Car and Buggy campaign.

Jerome Aigoin wins at French 1/8th buggy nats Rd1

The French 1/8th nitro buggy nationals opening race was held at the MRCT Le Teich track near Bordeaux. The event saw Kyosho’s Jerome Aigoin taking the win from his brother Yannick Aigoin (Team Associated) while Agama’s Jerome Sartel finish 3rd to round out the podium. Jean-Pierrick Sartel and Edouard Hugon completed the top 5 result. It was a bad weekend for Xray’s Renaud Savoya who was DQ’d from the semi for his car failing tech inspection, it was not able to roll backwards through the measuring box.

Robert Batlle wins 1st round of Spanish 2WD nats

The first round of the Spanish 2WD buggy nationals took place last weekend at the La Rinconada track. The race started off wet with rain on Saturday morning flooding the track but thanks to the effort of the club members the track was good for practice rounds from afternoon on. Qualifying started on Sunday and at the end it was Carlos Pineda who took the TQ in front of young Carlos Canas and Michael Todd. 1/8th Buggy World Champion Robert Batlle had some less-than-perfect runs, missed the top 3 but made the A-main. Robert then went on to win the opening A-final but TQ Pineda fought back in A2 where he won over Batlle with just over a second. A-main leg 3 would then bring the decision where Robert Batlle (Yokomo/Muchmore) took an easy win allowing him to take the overall win from Carlos Pineda (Associated/LRP) and Michael Todd (Kyosho/Team Orion).

Drake, Glancy & Hollos win at Ice Breaker

This past weekend was the Ice Breaker at Indy RC World, a venue that features an indoor off-road track. The layout for the Ice Breaker was very technical and had lots of jumps. Qualifying was dominated by TLR’s Adam Drake. He TQ’ed all three round of qualifying in both Nitro Buggy and Nitro Truck. The track grooved up throughout the weekend and was high bite for the mains on Sunday. In the 45 minute Truck final, Drake slowly pulled away and won the final. Second place went to Josh Glancy making it a TLR/Novarossi/Pro-Line 1,2. In the 45 minute Buggy final most of the guys switch to a harder compound tire and the race was on between Drake and Glancy. Both drivers were pitting at 11:30. They exchanged the lead throughout the race and finished only 1-2 seconds apart. In the end, Josh Glancy took the win followed by Adam Drake and Taylor Peterson finished third a lap down to the leaders. TLR’s Cody Hollis took the win in Electric 1/8th Buggy as well.
