Perfect start to DNC for Tessmann

Defending Dirt Nitro Challenge Truggy Champion Ty Tessmann got his quest for a third title in a row off to the perfect start as he took his HB to the fastest time in the opening round of qualifying at the Fear Farm in Phoenix, Arizona.  Driving his ‘Ty Tessmann’ edition D8T, the Canadian TQ’d the first of the three qualifiers by just .287 of a second from Team Losi Racing’s Dakotah Phend and Mugen’s Drew Moller.  Unfortunately for last year’s Top Qualifier Adam Drake, the event didn’t start well as he retired from Q1 after suffering a receiver battery failure.

Tyler Vik teams up with FX

Tyler Vik teams up with FX

Following the announcement of joining Xray’s factory team Tyler Vik now also has a new nitro engine supplier. FX is the manufacturer of choice and Tyler will use their F5 engine at all regional, national and international races including the World Championship, starting his campaign at this week’s Dirt Nitro Challenge. Tyler has this to say about the deal:

Despite FX Engines being brand new, I didn’t hesitate to give them a try, and was surprised by the speed and the reliability. With the World Championships this year, I want to be absolutely confident in my engine choice, and the power, fuel mileage and ease of tuning of the FX 5K is exactly what I’m looking for. I’m looking forward to the 2014 season and can’t wait to run these engines this year.

Wernimont & Due victorious at Motorama

Wernimont & Due succeed at Motorama

This weekend was the 36th annual Motorama show in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. The event hosts what is possibly the largest RC race around, over 700 entries across two tracks, along with a host of other motor sport events, thousands of visitors pass through the doors and are exposed to RC as a hobby and sporting event. The weekend started with travel problems for most, with the East coast being battered by a storm. This meant that a few drivers had to alter their plans and didn’t receive luggage until half way through the practice day. Despite the problems everyone made the show and were all sorted by the end of practice day. With practice untimed it was difficult to gauge pace, but with the teams cars all feeling good they were ready for racing. Qualifying was to be decided with 2 counting rounds from 3, with bump up finals throughout. This meant consistency would be critical for a good qualifying position, but if all goes wrong it was still possible to bump up.
