Volker wraps up DHI TQ honours in Q3

In a pretty much forgone conclusion, Team Yokomo’s Ronald Volker is Top Qualifier for the 14th running of the DHI Cup. The driver with the most number of past wins at the famous Danish event, yet another TQ run in Q3 put the pole position for tomorrow’s final beyond the reach of his rivals despite one round of qualifying remaining. Posting his fastest 5-minute run of the weekend, the 4-time event winner was a whole 5-seconds clear of his rivals with Awesomatix Viljami Kutvonen claiming second followed by Xray’s Alexander Hagberg, both drivers posting their first 25-lap runs.

Levin 2WD Top Qualifier at DHI Cup

Oskar Levin has got his 2014 season & his new sponsorship with Team C off to the best start possible by securing the overall TQ honours for 2WD Buggy at the DHI Cup.  Having TQ’d both of yesterday’s opening qualifiers in Denmark giving him the provisional overnight TQ honours, TQ runs from defending champion Joern Neumann in Q3 and Schumacher’s Tom Cockerill in Q4 meant the Swede remained top of the ranking.  Cockerill will start tomorrow’s triple leg finals from 2nd with Neumann’s Durango set to line up third.

Back to back TQ runs for Levin at DHI Cup

New Team C signing Oskar Levin got his debut for his new sponsor off to the perfect start at the DHI Cup after the Swede claimed the opening two rounds of qualifying at the Danish event.  The result leaves the 19-year-old holding the provisional overall TQ overnight in Odense while some of his key rivals are under pressure to make the most of tomorrow’s remaining two qualifiers.  Defending Champion Joern Neumann finds himself only 4th overall, while Xray’s Martin Bayer is 10th and Schumacher’s Tom Cockerill is way down in 32nd after a DNF in Q1.

Neumann & Bayer top Offroad practice at DHI

European Champions Joern Neumann and Martin Bayer have topped their respective title classes in practice at the DHI Cup in Denmark.  The third year the event has featured offroad competition, Neumann took his Durango to the fastest three consecutive laps in 2WD Buggy ahead of Schumacher’s Tom Cockerill and new Team C signing Oskar Levin.  In 4WD it was Xray’s Bayer who set the pace from Neumann who comes into the event looking to complete a DHI hat trick of wins in both classes.

Max Flurer joins Serpent

Front running US driver Max Flurer has joined Team Serpent USA. The former Associated driver joins the company’s offroad team to race and support the expanding Serpent car line-up. Max joins the recently announced Mike Truhe, Matt Schreffler and the car’s designer Billy Easton to make a pretty solid team.

Serpent confirm Mike Truhe signing

Confirming what we already knew, Serpent have confirmed that top US driver Mike Truhe is joining Team Serpent. Mike is a highly respected and experienced rc driver with a long list of race victories including 3 ROAR National titles and will be helping support the growing line of Serpent cars. Mike will be mainly running the offroad cars in 1/10 and 1/8, EP and GP, and the planned 4wd 1/10 buggies and SCT as well and even mentions that he will try some gas onroad.

Yannick Aigoin to run Ultimate engines & Pro-Line tires

Former European Champion and French Championship front runner Yannick Aigoin has announced that he has made the switch to Ultimate engines and Pro-Line tires for 2014. The Associated team driver who previously ran with nVision engines and Pro Circuit tires made the announcement from IBR Padova, where he is competing this weekend at the annual Italian Job race. Yannick had this to say:

I’m really happy with my new package and cannot wait to race with it … Off course, I need time to learn this but I’m very confident this will give me the best chance to achieve my goals in 2014. I’d like to thank everybody who made this possible!

Reno Savoya confirmed with Xray for 2014

Coming as no surprise, Xray have confirmed that multiple European Champion Reno Savoya will stay with their team for 2014. Reno has been very valuable member of R&D team and has been working closely with Juraj Hudy on the all-new XB8 development as well development of the 1/10 off-road platforms. Reno had this to say:

I started to work with the Xray team back in September ’11. I can’t be more happy and proud of all the hard work we’ve put together in order to develop and increase the performances of the Xray line. For a long time I was looking for a serious R&D implication and improvement of the products I was working on. It’s unbelievable the capability, both human and technologic, this company enjoy everyday in order to produce the best quality and performance products. At every level, professional driver or basher, we can feel the spirit of racing is in the DNA of the house! I had a wonderful year, with many big achievements, and I’m really looking forward to 2014 to carry on our trustful relationship and push my results up to another level! Like usual, never hesitate to walk around my pit area for a chat, it’s always a pleasure to share set-ups, knowledge and experiences! I would like to take the most of this words to thank everyone at Xray factory and team for their support!
