The opening race of the newly built nitro off-road track near Izmir, Turkey, attracted nearly 30 racers to compete in the 1/8th nitro buggy, truggy and E-buggy classes. The nitro buggy category saw Ahmet Demirel taking the win in front of Nebi Akgün and Tolga Yilmaz while the E-buggy class win went to Alain Sarafyan who was sidelined by Taner Kaya and Cengiz Gökbulut on the podium.

Speed Passion have announced the addition of talented Polish driver Michal Orlowski to their factory team. Having already used the company’s products for a number of years as a privateer and he will now receive full factory support for his upcoming off-road and on-road campaigns. This is what Michal has to say about the deal:

Pro-Line will be hosting a 4 day 1/8 Buggy RC Racing camp with Pro RC driver Ty Tessmann and his father and mechanic Gord, held at the Pro-Line test track in Banning, California from January 29th to February 1st. The participants profit from Ty’s and Gord’s vast amount of experience with both teaching everything you need to know for becoming a better builder and faster driver. 10 driver and mechanic teams will be accepted with 1 driver per team. Drivers with no mechanic are also welcomed. This past Sunday the Connecticut State Championships were held at Wolcott Hobby and Raceway in Waterbury, Connecticut and Kyle Rhodes wrote this report. ‘The race had 120 entries with drivers from multiple states being present. I competed in 2wd Modified buggy and 4wd Modified Buggy. Fellow Kyosho driver Jimmy James Rivera was also in attendance competing in 2wd Modified Buggy and 1/8th Electric Buggy. Jimmy and myself practiced Thursday before the event and were able to get a good base setup for our Kyosho RB6 rear motor cars for the race.

Tekin have announced the signing of 3-time Australian National Champ Kyle McBride to the team. Kyle will be powered by the latest Tekin RSX ESC and Redline Gen2 motors in his 1/10 Kyosho cars and will also step into the 1/8 E Buggy class powered by the ROAR National championship winning Tekin Rx8 Gen2 ESC and Gen2 T8 motor line up. Kyle had this to say:

Jake Dellinger has won the 1/8th E-buggy class at the RC Pro Series national championship finale. With a less-than-expected fifth place qualifying effort, Dellinger knew he had to win the triple A-Main final to have a shot at the national championship. In A1, Team Associated team mate David Joor got the win, with Dellinger working his way in to third. For A2, Dellinger stayed consistent and found his way to the front for the win, setting the stage for a showdown with Joor in A3 for the title. An early mistake by Joor sent him to the back of the field while Dellinger worked his way in to second. Shadowing the leader, Dellinger was biding his time – and the leader crashed. This gave Dellinger the gap he needed to cruise to the win and overall national championship. Joor’s consistent finishes netted him second overall.

Team Durango announce that IFMAR World Championship A finalist Travis Amezcua has signed for another 12 month with the UK-based company. The highly experienced Pro racer will continue to use Team Durango’s line of 1/10th off-road buggies and trucks during his busy 2014 campaign.

The 2013 Spektrum Challenge was held this past weekend at Trackside Hobbies & Raceway in Milwaukee, WI, the home track to World Famous race announcer Scotty Ernst. The race attracted a lot of local talent to mix up with World-class drivers such as Ryan Cavalieri, Dustin Evans or Dakotah Phend making for an amazing 361 entries race. The race started on Wednesday with open practice, Friday and Saturday had two rounds of qualifying with Sunday being the final’s day. In 2WD Modified Buggy Team Associated’s Ryan Cavalieri went onto take the overall TQ for this class. Cavalieri then went on to win A-mains 1 and 2 to take home his first Championship of the weekend. TLR’s Dustin Evans started 2nd on the grid for the main events. Evans would finish 2nd overall by recording a 3rd place finish in A-main 2 and taking the win in A-main 3. Dustin’s TLR team mate Dakotah Phend started 3rd on the grid and would round out the podium in 3rd place overall by finishing 2nd in A-Main 1 and 2.
