Michal Orlowski & Piotr Okonski win Polish buggy Nats

Last weekend saw the final round of the Polish National Off-Road Championships run for 2wd and 4wd at the big clay off-road race track in Warsaw. The leader of the championship standing in the 2wd class, ETS Hobby class Champion Michal Orlowski, drove the newly released Tamiya TRF201 and took the race win on its Polish debut and with it the championship title. Second place was Patryk Rbarczyk Artur Kramza in 3rd, both drivers running the Associated B4. In the modified 4wd class Piotr Okonski, driving the TRF511, won the championship in front of another Tamiya driver Damina Zalewski. The final podium spot went to Associated B44 driver Artur Kramza.

Fabio Boero wins 2010 Italian title

The fourth and final round of the AMSCI 1/8 Off Road Italian championship was held last weekend at the D&R Dirt Race RC track in Castelnuovo Calcea, Asti. The final saw the fight between Xray driver Riccardo Perin and Davide Tortorici with his Hobao for first position with the former taking the victory. Fabio Boero, who had been sitting in 3rd place by the mid part of the race, brought his Mugen/Reds combination home to claim the final step of the podium and more importantly the 2010 Italian National title. Tortorici took 2nd spot in the final championship standings with Perin in 3rd.

Durango report from the Japanese Nationals

Japanese Durango importers Tresrey have sent us this report on their team’s performance at last weekends Japanese 1/10th 4wd offroad buggy National Championship that was held at the Yatabe-Arena in Tsukuba city. Their team drivers Kazuki Sasatsu finished 5th and Yuichi Ajishi finished 9th in this tough race event against all other larger Japanese RC manufacturers.

Team Orion are reporting on the 3rd Annual Surf City Classic that was held this past weekend at OC R/C Raceway in Huntington Beach, CA. This race continues to grow every year thanks in part to the track owner Robert Black bringing in the Nations top talent. This years event was only 1 week after the ROAR Electric Modified Off-Road Nationals. In attendance were all 4 2010 ROAR National Champions: Ryan Cavalieri, Jared Tebo, Mike Truhe, and Ryan Maifield. As well as the Modified Truck Nationals TQ Dustin Evans.

Yannick Aigoin wins Coupe de France

This year’s Coupe de France 1/8th buggy race was held in Viglain, south of Paris, close to OrlĂ©ans. European Championship top qualifier Yannick Aigoin was to sit on the TQ spot following qualifying and he would carry forward that speed to the semi finals, to line up on pole position for the main final. In the 45 minute final Losi race Yannick would cruise to victory by 3 laps at the end from brother Jerome Aigoin with his Kyosho, with Julien Lattanzio driving a Mugen taking 3rd spot some seconds further back.

Naoto Matsukura does Japanese EP buggy double

The other big electric buggy race being run this week was the JMRCA Japanese nationals, held at the Yatabe Arena indoor track. The race was open to both 2wd and 4wd and in the 2wd class it was Keisuke Enomoto that took the pole position ahead of multiple National buggy champion and 2-time World 1/12th scale Champion Naoto Matsukura. In the 4wd class it was Naoto up front with Hirosho Akimoto in 2nd spot. In the 2wd finals it was a close battle at the sharp end with Enomoto taking the win in the first main, but in leg 2 it was Naoto that took the win, setting up a show down in the final leg. This again went to Naoto, who took the overall title from Enomoto in 2nd and Hirosho Akimoto in 3rd spot. In the 4wd finals it was more straight forward with Naoto Matsukura winning the first 2 legs to clinch the 4wd title, while Hirosho Akimoto won the final leg to secure 2nd with Shin Sugiura finishing in 3rd spot.

Lee Martin wins 4wd to take Euros double

Having won the 2wd class at the EFRA European electric buggy championships in Vienna, Austria earlier in the week, the Tamiya Speed Passion driver carried that form through to the 4wd event. Winning all heats and finals, the current British National Champion stamped his authority on the event, winning ahead of Joern Neumann in 2nd and last year’s Champion Marc Rheinard in 3rd.

Jared Tebo & Ryan Cavalieri win big at ROAR Nats

Team Orion are reporting from the 2010 ROAR Electric Modified Off-Road Nationals that were held last weekend in Joliet, IL. at Leisure Hours Raceway. This was the same facility and track where the 2009 ROAR Nitro Off-Road Nationals were held. The track was shorted by length and depth to better fit the 1/10 scale vehicles. The track layout was very technical with many hi-speed sections and challenging jumps. This years event brought over 300 total entries from the Nations best drivers. The race format went as follows: Wednesday and Thursday was practice. Friday and Saturday was 2 rounds of qualifying each day. Sunday would be only the Main Events with all the A-Mains running Triples.
