Yaniv Sivan does Israeli League Rd4 double

Last weekend race 4 of the Israeli Legaue took place at Rishpon racing track, north of Tel-Aviv. With top drivers from all over the country attending the race the 1/8th scale buggy class say an intense beginning to the final. Yaniv Sivan started from pole and with fast driving managed to open a gap on the rest of the field. meanwhile, Yaniv Levi from forth place advanced to second and Meir Azolay to third. The majority of the track was wet with high traction and the drivers put very fast laps and at the end Yaniv Sivan took the win followed by Yaniv Levi and Meir Azolay in 3rd. In the truggy class Ofer Rozen took the TQ, however it was Omer Asaig that started the race from pole. The first few rounds saw the pack running close together and all drivers were changing positions. After a few minutes into the race, Omer and Yaniv Sivan were neck and neck for a few laps but unfortunately Omer had to quit and so Yaniv could claim the double, with Or Levi 2nd and Ofer Rozen 3rd.

Miguel Matias wins Modelcar Cup

RB are reporting that their new team driver, Miguel Matias has won his first race in Portugal, the Modelcar Cup in Dairas, Vale de Cambra, on his debut for his new engine sponsor. Taking the TQ, he would take the victory, despite some radio troubles in the last minutes of the main final. Carlos Durães, one of the new Portuguese young stars, and also RB Team driver, was 2nd and fought to the victory in the last minutes of the race, finishing very close to Matias. New Losi/RB signing Ricardo Monteiro completed the final podium in 3rd.

Miguel Matias rejoins RB team

RB Products have announced that former European Champion and multiple Worlds and European finalist Miguel Matias has rejoined RB. After some tests in the past few months, the former Ninja race decided to make the switch back to the French brand. With the Euros taking place in his home country this summer, Matias had the following the say about the deal:

Yes. I’m back again. I couldn’t forget that all my most important results and titles were got with RB Engines. 2010 will be a very important season, where we’ll race the Euro and World Champs. I’ll be there to fight to the victory.

Jesse Robbers does double at CRCRC MWNC

Having already briefly written about the CRCRC Midwest Nitro Champs, Hot Bodies are reporting that in the electric 1/8 class their team driver Jesse Robbers qualified 2nd with the Ve8 and took the win. Even with electronic problems plaguing him all weekend Jesse was able to hold onto his lead and go on to win the race from Associated team manager Brent Thielke. In nitro buggy qualifying Jesse and Ryan Maifield traded 1st position several times but in the main Jesse was able to drive better average lap times and make less mistakes and so was able to build up a big gap to Maifield in 2nd position.

Ryan Maifield takes Truggy at Winter MW Champs

Kicking off 2010 in style, the CRCRC club creates a 2-week home to some of the world’s fastest drivers competing for that first win of the New Year at the Annual Winter Midwest Championships. In the 1/8th buggy class Ryan chose the JConcepts Bar Codes in blue compound to take the TQ spot in qualifying and the Double Dees V2 tire for the 45 minute A-main and ended the race 3rd, behind Jared Tebo in 2nd and eventual winner Jesse Robbers. In the 1/8th truck division, Ryan put his RC8T-CE out front early in the A-main, running on the Sevens tire in blue compound, and had it on 100% attack mode for the entire race, finishing a lap ahead of Jesse Robbers in 2nd and Jared Tebo in 3rd.

Neil Cragg victorious at SNRC winter series

CML are reporting on the latest round of the SNRC winter series that was graced by the attendance of a few of the top national drivers, aiming to do battle with the fast local drivers on this challenging track. The Stoke track is a good blend of fast and technical sections with quite a few jumps to test the drivers ability. As is to be expected in winter the track was damp early doors and the obligatory Hobao Angle spike tyres were heavily in evidence.

Yannick Aigoin wins Ultimate Racing Cup

The Ultimate Racing Cup took place last weekend in Barcelona close to the Olympic stadium and it was a fantastic and exciting race until the last minute. The qualifying saw the Mugen of Patxi Peñas take the pole position just ahead of Associated team driver Robert Batlle, who was making his Novarossi debut at this race. The former European Champion got the best of everyone in the semis, taking the win to line up first in the main final, in front of Yannick Aigoin, Patxi Peñas and Dani Bernabe. The final saw Patxi Peñas lead for more than half of the race but in the last minutes, Yannick Aigoin take the lead and pull out a safe gap, to win ahead of Patxi Peña in 2nd, with Bergonzoni driver Javi Puche claiming 3rd spot.

Tim Smith wins 4th annual Colonel’s Classic

The 4th annual Colonel’s Classic was held this past weekend at Phil Hurd Raceway in Savannah, GA and has quickly become the premier kickoff race in the southeast for each new year. Friday’s practice was very nice with dry weather which provided a great look at who had their race face on this weekend. Only one round of qualifying was completed before the rain came which pushed the remaining qualifier and mains to Sunday. The Phil Hurd race crew was able to get the track back to running condition very quickly and qualifying resumed on Sunday, Tim Smith was able to put himself into the main qualifying 6th. At the start of the main he was able to put his Xray 808, JConcepts equipped buggy to the lead on the opening lap. Around the 10 minute mark Alan Burton was able to make a charge for the lead, but Tim was able to quickly increase his gap to take the win with Shane Ogden in 2nd and Alan Burton finishing in 3rd.
