Indovino & Jakubowski win Polish Indoor Buggy nats Rd1

The first round of the Polish indoor off road championships took place last weekend at a modeling fair in Poznan. 80 drivers took part in the event and in 2WD Buggy Cuba Jakubowski had a battle with Michal Orlowski for the victory, with Cuba taking the win with his Associated buggy, beating Michal with his plastic Tamiya buggy, with third spot going to Jakub Kaczmarek. In the 4wd class the spectators were treated to some exciting running as Morris Indovino took the win from Artur Kramza, while Dennis Fadtke, who was making his debut in the off road class took 3rd despite some problems in the final.

Cavalieri does the triple at JBRL Rd7

Hot off his double victory at the Nitrocross World Championships, Team Associated’s Ryan Cavalieri took three more victories at the 7th round of the Jimmy Babcock Racing League series. Heading in to this round, Cavalieri had a 1 point lead over Cody King for both the overall buggy and truggy championship. With the double victory at Revelation Raceway, Cavalieri extends his lead in Expert Gas Buggy and Expert Gas Truggy and with one round remaining at Hot Rod Hobbies looks poised to claim the two Southern California racing league titles. Cavalieri also raced Electric 1/8th Buggy with his Team Associated RC8e and brought home the victory there as well. Finishing second to Cavalieri, also with his RC8e and LRP/Reedy powered Associated buggy was Chris Jarosz.

Atsushi Hara wins 3rd Straight Japanese title

Current IFMAR World Champion Atsushi Hara has won the rain shortened Japanese Nationals for a 3rd time in a row today in Sagamiko PF. The Hot Bodies driver was able to take the TQ spot in qualifying on Saturday but on Sunday the day started wet and continued to get worse with the race being cancelled following the 1/64th final. The organisers declared the winners based on the qualifying positions and so it was Hara that took the title, ahead of Kyosho driver Kazuya Tanaka in 2nd and Mugen driver Ahn Yuichi in 3rd.

Derek Guidry dominates Louisiana Nitro Open

Team Associated/Reedy driver Derek Guidry was in attendance this past weekend at the 2009 Louisiana Nitro Open and he went on to TQ and win both Pro classes. Derek dominated the 9 minute qualifiers without pitting and seeing run times close to 10 minutes and in the 30 minute main events Guidry lapped the field easily to win buggy from Robbie Darby and T-Mizzle and in truggy from Cody Fruge and Colby Alleman.

Jon Hazlewood rejoins Team Xray

RC Disco have announced that Jon Hazlewood will be rejoining Xray from the end of the 2009 season. Jon has signed to run the Xray alongside the team’s other recent signing Reece Sawyer and the rest of the UK Xray Team. With multiple UK, European and World A Final results behind him, Jon brings great experience and speed to the team and with the continued development of the 808 buggy and some excellent recent testing RC Disco are looking forward to great results and racing in the future. Jon will be running the Xray 808 Buggy & Hudy tools, with his other sponsors RC Disco, KO Propo, Proline, Byron, Savox, and SMD giving him great equipment to keep him at the top of his game.

Ryan Cavalieri wins big at Nitrocross World Finals

The 2009 NitroCross World Finals was once again held at ‘The Nitro Pit’ in Wittman, Arizona. There would be two heats of 15 drivers for the Invitational Classes. The first heat race consisted of 20 laps and the top 4 drivers in each heat would transfer directly to the A-Main. The Semi’s would be run later in the day for those drivers that didnt transfer and would also be a 20 lap race. The top 3 drivers in each heat would then transfer to the A-Main. At the end of the day was the Last Chance Qualifier (LCQ) where both heats of the remaining drivers would be put together for a 15 lap race. The Invitational Truggy Main Event would be run first. At the start of the tone, Ryan Cavalieri got a great start and was up to 3rd by the end of the first lap. Cavalieri then began to put in fast lap after lap to catch up to the leaders. At the halfway point in the race, RC was now leading and beginning to put some distance on the rest of the field. Cavalieri crossed the finish line first to take home his first win of the weekend and $5,000.00. The last race of the day was the Invitational Buggy Main Event. Jared Tebo qualified 1st overall with his Team Orion powered Kyosho MP9. After the first lap was complete, it was once again Cavalieri getting a great start and in 2nd place just behind the leader. Cavalieri then took over the lead and a few laps later and drove away from the field. With a few laps to go in the race, RC then put it on cruise control to take the win and another $5,000.00.

Tim Bremicker wins German National Truggy title

The 2 round German Truggy National Championship took place on both the Dachsbach and Landshut tracks. Round 1 in Dachsbach was won by Mugen driver Tim Bremicker, ahead of his team mate Daniel Reckward with LRP driver Moritz Gaul taking 3rd spot. In the deciding race in Landshut it was Stefan Scheunpflug that took the win easily ahead of  Patrick Feschtschenko in 2nd, with race 1 winner Bremicker in 3rd. This position combined with his win was enough to give Tim the National title, with Scheunpflug taking the runner up spot by 1 point ahead of Daniel Reckward who place 3rd in the standings.

Ryan Maifield wins 2wd Mod at AZ State Champs

Every year drivers converge at SRS Raceway to crown the Arizona State Champion and always draws heavy interest from the top Arizona drivers and surrounding states. For the 2nd year in a row the JConcepts with their Bar Codes took home the win in the 2wd modified class with ace driver Ryan Maifield behind the wheel. The dry, black groove conditions provided the ultimate test of durability and performance and he was able to win from Associated team mate Brent Thielke in 2nd and Losi racer Mike Friery in 3rd.
