F1 RCGP Round 6 report

F1 RCGP Round 6 report

The 6th Round of the F1RCGP Championship was held recently at Crest Speed Way. This indoor carpet track allows drivers to concentrate on setting up the car without worrying about the weather conditions. The layout of the track had been changed a week ago and this was maybe part of the reason that most of the drivers were suffering from inadequate traction. For the GP Class, Team TRG was a new comer for this round bringing their brand new TRG 109 driven by works driver Atsushi Takeshita, while Team Futable F-1 Racing had switched to the Tech F125BR driven by the new partnership of Takatoshi Morita and David Tse.

Meen Vejrak wins KM Asia Cup Rd3

Meen Vejrak wins KM Asia Cup Rd3

The 3rd round of the KM Asia Cup took place recently at the TRC race track in Yuen Long, Hong Kong. Although it was meant to be held on the facility’s brand new outdoor race track, the race was actually run indoor due to heavy rain on Friday that gave the organization a tough decision to make. The track itself was one of the biggest challenges for everyone, because of its slippery condition which made the right setup hard to find, not to mention the driving skill required for this type of traction. Usually traction will come up gradually as the race goes on, thus, traction in the finals would be higher than in qualifying, but this indoor track is totally different getting more slippery as the event went on.

Grainger & Bowden take BRCA TC Rd2

Grainger & Bowden take BRCA TC Rd2

The second round of the BRCA National Championship saw the series head to the beautiful Halifax facility in the north of England. Chris Grainger dominated early qualifying with his GM powered Schumacher Mi4 choosing his new tires at the correct moments to get a perfect 3 TQ’s from the 5 qualifying rounds over the weekend with Rd1 winner Andy Moore with his Hot Bodies Cyclone 2nd and Xray driver Elliot Harper in 3rd. Pro Stock qualifying went the way on Jon Bowden in front of Lee Price and Byron Humphries. The first mod leg saw a flag to flag victory for Grainger but the second didn’t quite go to plan. Chris got dirt on his tyres before the delayed start, allowing Andy Moore to pip him on the first lap and take the victory on his fresh tyres compared to Chris’s used ones. With the tyres now all being equal going in the last leg Chris dominated the run taking a comfortable victory to secure the overall win in front of Moore, with Harper taking 3rd. The Pro stock was dominated by Bowden, winning all 3 rounds, with Lee Price a consistent 2nd, while Luke Thompson claimed 3rd spot.
