Massimo Fantini wins the ‘Trofeo dei Campioni’

Last weekend saw former European Champion Massimo ‘Max’ Fantini win the ‘Trofeo dei Campioni’ race held at the Mini Autodromo RME Cassino, Italy. The event was attended by 130 racers in 2 classes and in 1/8th scale saw Serpent driver Fantini win in a lights to flag battle ahead of Kyosho racer Danielle Ielasi, Mimmo Calce finished in 3rd. In 1/10th scale it was Raiola Carmine that took the win ahead of Spiniello Mario in 2nd with Sicorello Angelo rounding off the podium in 3rd

Kyle Branson impresses as SDD driver

Serpent have a report on their site on Kyle Branson, the Serpent Driver Development programs youngest driver. The 13 year old seems to have had a busy and successful season traveling the world and racing.

His first venture onto foreign asphalt was the Dutch 1:10 GP at Heemstede as preparation for the European Championships. This preparartion would stand to Kyle as he successfully defended his European Junior crown in the difficult wet conditions. From there it was on to Australia no less for the 2006 IFMAR 1:10 World Championships in Brisbane.

This weekend the RC World descends on Cleveland

2006 US Indoor Champs

This weekend sees the 27th running of one of the RC worlds most famous and long running races, the US Indoor Champs. Held in Cleveland every Thanksgiving weekend, this years event sees over 500 racers literally take over the Holiday Inn in Independance, Ohio for a hectic weekend of racing. As in previous years, this 2006 event has attracted the whos who of US electric racing as well as some internationals stars too (view heat listing here). Ivan Laptev dominates the Russian Outdoor Championships

LRP are reporting on their site on the success of their products in Russia and particularly the 2006 Russian Outdoor Championships that was won by 3 time National Champion Ivan Laptev. Ivan, using with a brushless LRP motor, has captured his third consecutive outdoor title on the back of having just taken the Indoor National title as well.

As in most other world-wide countries the racers in Russia are free to choose between a brushless or brushed power source. For sure, Ivan trusted in the LRP Brushless Technology and did not give any chance to his opponents. In a total domination, Ivan won all qualification runs, all three A-mains and also set the fastest lap time!

Lamberto Collari wins the 2006 Trofeo Novarossi

OK, i know this race took place over 3 weeks ago but it was an important race and the event report only just showed up on the Novarossi website. The Trofeo Novarossi is an annual event and a celebration of all things Novarossi and even all the factory staff are bused to the event to join in on the festivities. This year it took place at the Gubbio track in Italy and as it turned out Novarossi’s returning prodigal son Lamberto Collari won the event ahead of Euro B champion Andrea Cristiani and Worlds finalist Walter Salemi in third position.

Jeremy Cupps wins the Nitro Onroad National Finals

Last weekend the RC Pro Series had their final gas on road race at the Gulf Coast Raceway, a race that was TQ’d by Paris Memorial winner Scott Kimbrow but won by Dave Campbell. This result didn’t affect the final outcome of the championship however which ended with Mugen racer Jeremy Cupps taking the National title ahead of fellow Mugen racer Terry Brown with Kyosho team racer Scott Kimbrow ending his campaign in third.

The event also played host to the Expert Sedan Nationals that was TQ’d and won by Ron Atomic (best super hero name ever) who also claimed the overall national title too.

2006 Tamiya World Championships, Japan

Tamiya World Championships

Just a quick post to mention that last weekend the 2006 Tamiya World Championships were held at a large indoor exhibition hall in Shizouka, Japan. The annual event featured many different classes as well as many different nationality of racers, and Japanese website RC Car Trend were there and have results and lots of images from the race which you can view here.
