Popular British indoor touring car series RugRacers was back for the second of the 5 round winter series and looking forward to more close racing from Round 1, which did not disappoint.  The second round would also have a special guest in recent World Championship runner Michal Orlowski which was a great an opportunity for many to watch one of the very best out there close up racing, every time he was on track the pits seemed to empty as everyone watched on.  On the day though it was his team mate & National Champion Elliott Harper that would take TQ in all 4 rounds to line up on pole, Harley Eldridge, the fastest female on the planet was just pipped to 2nd by Orlowski  by 2/10ths.  Leg 1 and the lead cars got away together, Eldridge dropped to the back but produced a stellar drive of racing and clean overtaking to make it back to 4th by the tone, Harper was able to extend out to a gap of 2secs from Orlowski and they would cross the line in that order with Andy Murray 3rd.  Leg 2 would also go the way of Harper to make it two from 2 in the series, having won the season opener last month, with Orlowski 2nd & Eldridge 3rd and claiming the last spot on the podium with a faster Leg 2 race time.

Hebert and Lia win at U.S. Indoor Champs

The 44th running of the U.S. Indoor Champs Presented by Hobbywing saw Xray’s Keven Hebert defend his title in Modified Touring Car while Awesomatix’s Donny Lia took the win in 1:12 at the Cleveland, Ohio, classic.  In Touring Car Qualifying, it was the fourth & final round of qualifying that proved the fastest round with Hebert 6/10ths of a second faster than Awesomatix’s 2022 Champion Sam Isaacs with team-mate Kemp Anderson securing P3 on the grid.  With a single A-Main, Hebert set the fastest lap of the race to win by a 3.3-second margin over Isaacs with Anderson finishing a further 1-second back to complete the podium.  In Mod 1:12 qualifying it was defending Champion Isaacs that took the overall TQ, his Awesomatix fastest in Q4 from MonTech NYGP winner Anderson with Lia third fastest, his best time coming in Q3.  In the triple finals, Isaacs managed to convert in A1 as Lia got by Anderson for second but in A2 the Top Qualifier caught a corner that allowed Anderson to the front but he then had a mistake 2 and a half minutes in allowing young Stuart Mason to the lead ahead of Lia where he would stay to the finish.  Bringing the 2024 edition of the World’s longest running RC race to a close, in A3 Isaacs had the early lead but under intense pressure from Anderson there was contact with the boards for Isaacs that broke his car and put him out of the race.  With Anderson leading, as the race came to a close Lia started pushing him hard and on the last lap executed a great pass to take the win and the title.  Mason would finish runner-up with final step on the podium going to Isaacs.

Orlowski to defend MIBO International Touring Car title

Defending MIBO International Touring Car Champions Schumacher and the British manufacturer’s star driver Michal Orlowski are to return to the third edition of the Czech based race next February to defend their title.  Orlowski took the 2024 title when he beat the Mugen Seiki of inaugural MIBO International race winner Ronald Volker at the unique indoor event.  While a lack of mechanic hampered Orlowski’s plans to race both Touring Car and Offroad this year, the recent Florida Carpet Championships winner and reigning 1:10 2WD European Champion has entered to do both in 2025, the race taking place at the Sports V Hotel in Hrotovice on February 07-09.  Organised by former international touring car racer Michal Bok, having only opened registration for the annual event less than a week ago, the 2025 MIBO International has already surpassed 125 entries.  With a capped entry limit allowing for a relaxed schedule and plenty of time in the evening to wind down and socialise over dinner after each day’s racing, the race is officially a two and a half day event and gets underway on the Friday evening with practice to allow for travel Friday morning.  The Offroad track will cater for 2WD and 4WD Buggy and ‘Offroad Kids’, while on the onroad track the racing action will cater for Modified, Stock & FWD Touring car with a 1:12 GT 13.5T class as well as ‘Onroad Kids’ being introduced for 2025.

Fenix Mistral 3.5 1:10 Formula Kit

Italian manufacturer Fenix Racing have released a new version of its 1:10 Formula Chassis, the Mistral 3.5.  After 3 years of the Mistral 3.3, it was time for it to be given a ‘tech refresh’ using the immense experience of Dutch F1 racer Jitse Miedema.  The new car incorporates most of the evolution made on the 3.3 during the last year, plus a brand new main chassis.  From the “IDFM” front end, to the revised shock position that gives more room to the electronics, to a new system on the sub-frame chassis.  The car keeps the 3.3 trademark of the variable wheelbase.  The 3.5 is the same car that allowed Jitse Miedema to become Dutch Champ again.
