The Hernan Matticoli circuit of La Tablada in Buenos Aires, Argentina will play host to the 27th South American Championships from the 27th to 30th of April. The event already drew sign-ins from countries such as Brazil, Chile Ecuador, Peru, the USA and Argentina and it will see the running of 1/8th on-road, Touring and GT classes. The 2017 edition of the Mountain Model Camp will be held from the 12th to 16th of October at the Storefjell hotel in Norway. The event will see Modified Touring, 13.5T Touring, Formula, 1/12th scale and M-Chassis classes beside RWD and CS drift car categories and it not only is about racing but socialising with the winter resort offering lots of things to do beside RC racing. The 2017 season of the popular German Nitro-West-Masters series is about to start this coming weekend. Round one of the series, that mainly visits tracks in the western part of the country, will take place at the fast track Hamm track, home of last year’s EFRA 40+ European Championships and the German Nationals. Already in its ninth season the Nitro-West-Masters cares about the popular 1/8th and 1/10th nitro on-road classes that got some additional swing with the introduction of the Hobby-Cup Stock engine classes some years ago.
Round four of the Indonesian GT National Championship was recently held at Sunter International Speedway. Serpent’s Bowie Ginting would take the overall TQ in front of Serpent teammate Arya to start from pole position into the 30-minute main final. At the start Arya would jump into the lead while polesitter Bowie had to return to the pits to have his engine’s carburettor readjusted. Rejoining the field dead last Bowie soon recovered, taking the 2nd place behind Arya some six minutes into the race. Some time later the latter had to retire with engine problems which left Bowie in the lead with a huge margin on the field. At the end Bowie Ginting (Serpent/O.S.) was able to wrap up the win some 8 laps ahead of Rahmat Futaki (HongNor/O.S.) with Yuri Taruna (Mugen/O.S.) in third. Vavan Mahatma (Mugen/O.S.) and Bernardy (Kyosho/Reds Racing) would round out the top 5 result.

The 2017 edition of the International Dutch F1 Masters was held at the Dutch MACH Heemstede club over the weekend. Erik Sigterman had claimed the overnight TQ after the four qualifying rounds on Saturday and he would also take the overall TQ as the fifth and final qualifier on Sunday morning had to be cancelled due to rain and hail. Infinity’s Jitse Miedema would put his car on the 2 spot on the grid while Sidney Blokker (Yokomo) came in third.

The opening round of the Belgium Nitro On-road Nationals was held at the MAC De Baanbrekers club in Rucphen, The Netherlands. In the 1/8th class it was John Ermen who took the TQ after the qualifiers with Gunter van Staey and Robin D’hondt coming in second and third. For the 30-minute main final John Ermen (ARC) was able to conserve his qualifying performance, taking a dominant win some three laps in front of Capricorn driver Robin D’hondt while Augustin Mejor (Serpent) completed the top 3 result another two laps down.

After three rounds of qualifying using the rocket round format, the 2017 AOC round 1 in Shanghai, China would deliver some of the finest racing in Asia. With triple A-mains for all classes and double mains for the lowers, Sunday would be filled with happiness as well as heartbreak. Halfway through qualifying in the Modified Sedan class, Infinity’s Akio Sobue seemed to have found a 2nd gear as he was able to dominate the last 2 rounds of qualifying and earn TQ, but most importantly earn the track position that matters most on a tight circuit. Starting from pole, Sobue would make good on his start position to take the win in A1 with the rest battling for 2nd and 3rd. A2 saw Sobue masterfully cover his lines to defend attacks from 2nd place qualifier, Xray’s Alexander Hagberg. Mistake free, Sobue would leave the field to cross the line and take A2 and the overall. A3 of Mod sedan would determine the rest of the podium.

This Sunday morning the final round of qualifiers was held at the opening round of the 2017 Asian Onroad Championships in Shanghai. With the track grip suited to more his liking, Creation Model Ltd.’s Akio Sobue would reset the TQ time in the Modified Touring Car class and secure the top spot on the grid laying down the fastest run in Q3. Xray’s Alexander Hagberg would earn the 2nd grid spot delivering his fastest time in Q3 and move Naoto Matsukura down to 3rd. The 5-time World Champion made a fatal mistake in Q3 which ended his run prematurely.
