Michal Abrahamek wins at Laszlo Timar memorial race

The Laszlo Timar memorial race was recently held at the Morac Graz track in Austria with about 80 racers from the Czech Republic, Austria, Germany, Slovakia, Hungary and Slovenia in attendance. The race format saw independent races on Saturday and Sunday with the combination of both would make up the final result. Xray’s Michal Abrahamek won the Saturday portion and he would take the TQ on Sunday but due to heavy rain making it impossible to drive the main final, the results were taken from the qualifiers, handing Michal his third title in a row after winning the event in 2015 and 2014. Gergö Lehner (Shepherd) and Sagi Tamas (Serpent) would round out the top 3 result.

2016 Winter Champs title for Aaron Lee

The recent 2016 Winter Champs in Australia saw Aaron Lee walking away with the triple of TQ, fastest lap and new track record as well as the win in the competitive A-main event. The victory is even more impressive as this was the first outing for his new chassis sponsors after having only received the kits on the Monday before the race.

Barry Baker wins at Big Fat Turkey Race

This past weekend, the 10th annual Big Fat Turkey Race was held in Camarillo, California. With nice weather and with just over 130 entries and 18 heats, it was bound to make for a good day of racing. In the Modified Touring Car class the race for the win was on between veteran racer Barry Baker (Team Associated), Max Kuenning (Xray) and Randy Caster (Team Associated). In the opening two mains Kuenning scored a 3-2, Baker a 2-1, and Caster a 1-4. At the start of A3, Caster put a small gap between himself and the second and third spots of Baker and Kuenning. On lap 23, Baker got into some traffic and had to retire early due to a mechanical failure. With the points from A1 and A2, Randy needed a win in A3 to take the overall; but if Kuenning won, it would make for a 3-way tie for the win. At the finish line, Kuenning held on the for the win, forcing a three-way tie. Coming down to the driver’s fastest single main event as the tie breaker, Baker took the overall, beating Kuenning by only nine-tenths of a second.

Dimitriou wins at Greek National Cup

The Greek National Cup was held at the Modelodromio track in Patra in sunny weather conditions. Xray’s Dimitriou would TQ three of the four qualifiers what gave him the overall TQ from Papadopoulos (Xray). In the main, Dimitriou was the fastest driver on the track in the very hot conditions, allowing him to take the win with a huge margin from second placed Papadopoulos while Christodoulou (Mugen) finished in third place.

French Electric On-road Nationals Rd4 – Report

The fourth round of the French Electric On-road Nationals was held at Tournefeuille, near Toulouse, in southwest of France. In the Touring Modified class, current championship leader Thomas Vigneron scored a popular win, also turning the fastest lap of the event, in front of Maxime Favrelle and Jeremy Limoges.

Kerler & Greiner win at South German regionals Rd3

Round three of the South German Nitro On-road regionals, the qualifying series for the German Nationals, was held this past weekend at the popular Türkheim track. In the premier 1/8th Nitro On-road class 1, Tobias Kerler (ARC) brought home the win after taking the TQ while in the slightly slower class 2 it was Alex Bremberger who came out fastest after the qualifiers, but ultimately it was Bernhard Hummel who took the win in the main final. In 1/10th 200mm Serpent’s Dominic Greiner TQ’ed and won the event while in the 1/8th electric class it was Klaus Lechner (ARC) who took the TQ and winning honours.

Dario Balestri wins scorching hot Worlds warm-up

During the last weekend the Italian Gubbio track hosted the IFMAR 200mm World Championship warm-up race in very hot weather conditions. The qualifiers gave Dario Balestri the TQ as he came out fastest in the opening two rounds. Robert Pietsch lined up in second from fellow countryman Dirk Wischnewski. The Superpole race then had Pietsch holding the upper hand over Mazzeo, Wischnewski and Eboli, allowing him to proceed directly into the main final. The hour-long main event then went to Dario Balestri (Capricorn) who laid down a flawless run to take the victory one lap ahead of Robert Pietsch (Mugen) while Alessio Mazzeo (Serpent) completed the top 3 result another five laps down. The very hot weather conditions in the main final, that are also expected for the actual Worlds, lead to several DNFs with Dirk Wischnewski, Leo Arnold, Francesco Eboli and Patrick Schäfer all suffering problems during the 60 minute race.

Smyk & Pyrka take Polish Open Summer Indoor titles

The Polish Open Summer Indoor Championship was recently held in Warsaw as part of an Expo. The event was run on a fast and technical track laid out with ETS carpet, making for nice racing conditions. In the Touring Modified class, Arkadiusz Smyk would take the TQ after the qualifiers and he would continue to dominate the field in the A-mains that he won in front of Bartosz Pochopien and Michal Wojcik in second and third respectively. Tomasz Niemczewski and Wojciech Rzepecki completed the top 5 result.
