Balestri & Perniciaro win Italian 1/10th champs Rd1

The Miniautodromo Il Lombrico in Milazzo saw the first round of the 2012 Italian 200mm championships. In addition to the local drivers also World and European Champion Robert Pietch showed up and all of them where pleased with ideal weather conditions until the beginning of the wet Expert finals. The rainy conditions meant a DNS for both Francesco Tironi and Luca Redaelli and a late take off for Daniele Ielasi. At the upper half of the grid KM driver Dario Balestri was able to win the 45 minute final some four laps ahead of Giorgo De Felici and Alessio Mazzeo.

ETS motors to Poland for second half of season

After a 6-week ‘mid term’ break, the second half of the Yokomo Euro Touring Series gets underway this weekend (13-15 April) with drivers traveling to Poland for the fourth race of six that make up the calendar for season number five of the world renowned electric touring car championship. While Poland has been a regular fixture on the annual ETS schedule, like the opening three races of the 2011/12 season another new venue awaits competitors with the country’s fifth largest city Poznan playing host to drivers from 22 different nations. Adding to the excitement of the Polish round is the race being a part of Motor Show Poznan, a full size car motor show which has previously attracted 46,000 visitors.

Cseko & Timar win Rd1 in Hungary

The opening round of the Hungarian Onroad Championships took place in Pecs on the Easter weekend. The club, which is the biggest and most active onroad club in Hungary, prepared the track nicely for this event but unfortunately it started to rain on Thursday and it seemed it was never going to stop. Finally it finished Sunday morning, just in time for the start of qualification. The conditions were difficult, the track was slippery while the temperature was super cold around 5°C and very windy.

Rick V wins Dutch season opener

Last weekend saw the season opener of the Dutch 1/8 onroad nationals on the very bumpy REAL80 track in Groningen. With a big shift of drivers over the winter there was many new names again, giving an entry of 54 drivers. The weekend started very cold and wet but on the Sunday there was finally nice weather. With a drying track most drivers decided not to run the 1st qualifying session. At the start of the 2nd series the track still had some wet spots making it difficult to set fast times, so the last session was needed to set a time without errors.

Azri Amri wins Malayisan Nationals Rd1

Its the new year and its the beginning of the Malaysian National Championship (MNC) held in a new venue in Ipoh at the Galaticos Arena RC Track. This being a new venue it attracted more than 30 racers in the Pro Stock class alone and almost 70 racers in all classes. 2012 is also the first year that GFT tires are used as a control tire to make the race more interesting while more economical for racers as GFT is a Malaysian brand name.

Andy Moore joins Team Hobbywing

Team Hobbywing have signed former IFMAR World Champion Andy Moore to their team. Andy will use the newest Hobbywing Xerun V3 speed controller and attend most of the highest level events around the World this year. Andy is the first top driver in Team Hobbywing and with his huge amount of racing experience is a perfect fit on the team and helpful to the development. Team Hobbywing is very excited to have Andy on board. Andy had this to say:

Having worked closely with the guys at Hobbywing whilst testing the new V3 speedo over the last few weeks I’ve been really impressed by their professionalism and the outstanding performance of the speedo with both stock and modified motors. Mark Green wins BRCA 200mm Rd1

The first round of the 2012 BRCA 1/10th National Championship was held at the Mendip circuit, near Weston-super-Mare, UK. Despite the cold weather, around 50 drivers made the trip, all hoping for a good start to the season. Over the winter there have been several changes between drivers and manufacturers. Team Serpent of course have Mark Green again for 2012, who was driving a prototype of the new Serpent 747 at this race. Alongside Mark is defending champion Joe Kerry who has switched engine brands and now drives for O.S. Last year’s runner up Adam Catchpole has decided to switch from team Shepherd and has now joined Capricorn for the upcoming season. At the moment, Adam remains the only driver for the team in the UK.

Victor Christensen dominates Danish Stock series

Twelve year old Victor Christensen rounded off his winning streak in the Danish indoor TC series at the final event held in Skive recently. With a 3 heat win in the Stock class (17.5T, blinking), Victor took a total of 4 wins out of the 5 rounds and could also claim the title as overall winner of the Stock Class with a maximum score. In the first 3 rounds competition was close and Victor was racing his MI4CX and was battling some skilled (and sometimes older) drivers. For the last two rounds Victor had received the new MI4CXL which improved his lap times considerably and resulted in something close to shear dominance. In round 4 his new MI4CXL was assembled the night before the race and despite the lack of testing, things was going so well for Victor that he actually lapped all other competitors in the mains.
