A little bit short notice but the organisers of the Open Challenge Brandys race in Brandys Nad Labem in Czech Republic have got in touch to announced their event. Open to 1/10 open, 1/10 hobby, 1/10 GT and Formula 1, the race is a one day event which takes place on Saturday the 11th of February and will see Serpent Factory driver Marc Fisher competing. Team Titan have announced that top US Serpent racer Paolo Morganti has signed to use Team Titan products for 2012, racing with Blitz bodies. Paolo had this to say about the deal:
I am happy to join team TiTAN and use Blitz high performance bodies. During the Novarossi Challenge I tried them and chose for the R18 on this super high speed track and it give me great performance helping me to take TQ and 1st. I am looking forward to using these bodies in the coming races.

The BRCA held it Winter National at the popular Ardent indoor raceway near Derby at the weekend. This was the second year that Ardent had hosted the event, the format was three rounds of qualifying with the top 32 drivers going through to a Reedy style race of champions. The remaining drivers contested a more familiar UK national format with round by round qualifying and three leg final. In qualifying Olly Jefferies for Associated repeated his TQ performance from the 2012 Winter National, in 2012 Jefferies finished second to Andy Moore and early on it looked like the battle for top honours would once again centre on these two drivers.

Reds Racing Company have announced a new official team driver for 1/10 Touring in Spain, Sergi Franch. Sergi Franch says “I am very proud and hopeful to sign by Reds Racing to be able to obtain the best results this season 2012 and very thankful to the brand and his importer for On Road in Spain Maxiracing to trust me to try to put this great engine in the top of competitions in Spain and Europe, for me the most important its to be able to work with a ‘Master’ like Mario Rossi, because I am certainly that we will be in the high level of performance on the track”.

The Pre Worlds for 1/10th 200mm took place this weekend at RC Addict in Bangkok Thailand, where the IFMAR Worlds will be held next November. The weather was hot and rain disrupted the action during the event, but in the end it was the TQ master Robert Pietsch, reigning 1/8th World Champion, that took the top spot in qualifying ahead of Italian Francesco Tironi with Paphon C and Chavit S completing the top 4. In the semis Jilles Groskamp went out with radio problems so while he had pace he wasn’t given the chance to show it. In the final Pietsch got a clean start but technical problems hit the Mugen driver and he was out of contention, elevating Tironi to the lead where he would stay to take the win for Capricorn ahead of Xray driver Dirk Wischnewski in 2nd, some 7 seconds back, while Paphon C completed the podium 2 laps further back also with an Xray.

With the Euro Touring Series making its first trip to Italy last weekend, we wanted to capture the great atmosphere that 300 drivers and lots of passionate Italians can bring to an event. More announcements from EFRA, this time its the turn of Electric Vice Chairman Russell Giles to tell us that the 1/12th Spec Euros, scheduled for 9-11 March in Austria has been cancelled due to lack of entries.
Having received clarifications on the new EFRA 1/10th IC Track rules just 2 weeks ago, today it is the turn of Sander de Graaf, 1/8th track chairman, to clarify the rules for his section. The confusion surrounding the new rules, voted on at the recent AGM, has again to do with the date of implementation. Most of the new rules will come into effect this year with the exception of the new lower weight limit of 2400 grams which will only come into affect in 2013.
