Andy Moore wins Winter BTCC Rd1

Andy Moore wins Winter BTCC Rd1

This last weekend saw the first running of Schumacher’s new Winter BTCC at Ardent Raceway.  The entry was quite low with about 50 drivers however the competition was seriously hot. The UK’s top drivers Andy Moore, Elliott Harper and Schumacher’s Chris Grainger all battled it out hard in the 10.5 class with Elliott and Andy putting on a great show and these two being a few seconds clear of the chasing pack on the Sorex 28JB control tyres. Andy took the TQ from Elliott with Stefan Chodzynski in third and Chris 4th.  A huge battle in both finals entertained the crowd with the top 2 places changing at various points in the races.  Eventually after a great battle Andy came out on top from Elliott with Stefan 3rd and Chris Grainger 4th. In the slightly slower 13.5T class track owner John Dawson was the man to beat (he gets some practice) ;) however Hinckley legend Dean Gibbs was close around with Schumacher Matt Lax showing strongly too with his Mi4CX. John finished up the clear winner from Dean and Matt.

Marc Stiles wins BRCA 1/12th Nationals Rd2

BRCA1_12scaleStockNationalsRd2

Serpent driver Mark Stiles took the win in the stock class at Round 2 of the BRCA 1/12 scale Nationals last weekend. Mark qualified in 3rd place with behind Olly Jefferies and 3-time world champion David Spashett with Chris Kerswell taking the fourth place in the A final starting grid. In the final, Olly got away cleanly ahead of Dave, with Chris passing Mark for 3rd in the opening laps. A mistake from Dave moved Marc and Dave up to 2nd and 3rd and they then began to close down Olly at the front. At half race time the trio were together on the track and separated by less than 2 seconds. A small error from Chris allowed Mark to re-pass him for 2nd, and then Olly hit a track marker which promoted Mark into the lead. Chris and Olly then enjoyed a close battle for 2nd which allowed Mark to pull a gap of about 3 seconds and cruise to a comfortable victory. Team Associated driver Olly beat Chris to deny Serpent a 1-2. The result leaves Mark leading the stock championship. Round 3 of the championship takes place in 3 weeks time.
