Bickerstaff wins 2nd round of Irish Touring Car Series

Bickerstaff wins 2nd round of Irish Touring Car Series

The second round of the 2010 Irish Touring Car Series was held at the fast St.Annes track in Dublin over the weekend where defending Champion & Round 1 winner Alan Bickerstaff claimed yet another victory. Qualifying saw the Associated team driver secure TQ honours ahead of the Tamiya’s of Mark Gilliland and Keith Dempsey with Graham Kenny fourth fastest at the controls of his Schumacher. In the finals it was the Top 3 qualifiers who were to be the class of the field. In the opening leg it was Dempsey who took the win after Bickerstaff and Gilliland made contact as the trio ran bumper to bumper in what was one of the closest races ever witnessed at the St.Annes track. Half way through the second Leg Dempsey looked on target to take his first overall victory but a small error allowed Gilliland through to claim the win from Bickerstaff. Leg 3 was a much easier affair for Bickerstaff, the win securing him overall victory after Gilliland and Dempsey clashed in the later part of the race while battling over second allowing Kenny through for his best finish of the three legs. Overall the result was a repeat of the opening round in Bangor earlier in the year with Gilliland the runner up and Dempsey filling the final podium placing.
