SIGP victories for Coelho & Hamon

…Lee and the Xray of JJ Wang enjoyed a good battle for the runner up spot. In A1, Wang would get passed the Singapore driver but on used tyres he couldn’t hold the position. In A2, Wang took advantage of Lee being on used tyres and took second setting them up for an interesting A3 battle. With a minute to go in final A-Main a mistake by Wang dropped him to third allowing Chinese National Champion Ma Haoran passed for second behind winner Lee. Coelho & Hamon Top Qualifiers at SIGP

…to a fever, while still under the weather it was a much better day for JJ Wang with him wrapping up qualifying with the second fastest time in Q4. Overall that puts him P3 on the grid for the A-Main behind Lee and ahead of Haoran. With qualifying in 1:8 Nitro Onroad based on each driver’s single fastest time from the four rounds, Hamon’s Q1 pace was to prove important for the World Championship Finalist. After a morning rain shower, Hamon would top Q2 but in a slower time and then in Q3 & 4 he suffered one-way bearing failures…

Phi-Long Nguyen TQ at FEMCA Championship

…Kyle McBride amount its past champions and this year it appears to be a battle of the future stars of the sport in qualifying. Over the six rounds 12-year-old Nguyen topped four qualifiers to secure the overall TQ with 17-year-old Australian Christian Wolhuter getting P2 after topping Q2 & Q3 with his Sworkz. Completing the Top 3 for qualifying would be new Team Associated signing Hyunkyu Jung, the Korean teenager having finished runner-up at last year’s championship in Taiwan. Vietnam to host 2024 FEMCA 1:8 Offroad Championship

The 2024 FEMCA 1:8 Offroad Championships will take place in Vietnam with March 6-9th scheduled as the dates for the crowning of the official Champion of Asia. This year the championship returned following a forced Covid break, with Taiwan hosting the event where Ming Yang team driver Jeff Wang took the win over Xray’s young Korean talent Hyunkyu Jung. A prestigious title that counts Atsushi Hara, Kyle McBride and Shin Adachi among its past champions, 2024 is expected to attract all of Asia’s leading offroad racers and teams to Ho Chi Minh City to battle it out for the crown….

Jeff Wang crowned FEMCA 1:8 Buggy Champion

…Taiwan’s Wang Guan Ling would complete the Top 3. Wining his Semi final from Thailand’s Witsarut R., 13-year-old Hyunkyu Jung would be on pole for the 50-minute final with a faster winning time than that of Wang who won his 30-minute encounter from the Sparkco buggy of 11-year-old Huang Han Ping. In the 50-minute Main Final, it would be Wang who would come out on top with his SH Engines powered MY1 having 2-lap margin over Jung. Winner of the separately run 20-minute ‘Teenage Final’ held earlier in the day, Jung crossed the finish just 1.1-seconds ahead of Wang Guan…

1up Racing Cup – Report

…Duy Khuong would come out with the Win ahead of Johnee Fenimore. Last year’s Champion, Matt Allen would move up to grab the final podium position. A new addition to the 1up Cup this year was Nitro TC and what a great addition it was! In qualifying, JJ Wang was unstoppable as he went on to grab TQ ahead of Jacob Cruz and Walter Diaz. Bryce Butterfield wins at KO Propo GP

Last weekend’s KO Propo Grand Prix was hosted by the Steel City RC Speedway in Fontana, California last weekend, attracting 124 entries. While JJ Wang took the win in the 200mm Nitro Sedan class, it was Bryce Butterfield with the win in the 1/8th Open category. Coming from P6 on the grid, Bryce took the lead in the closing stages, leaving behind veteran racer, Joel Johnson in 2nd and 7th place qualifier, Walter Diaz in 3rd.
