Having a tough day by his normal standards, Simon Kurzbuch would manage to complete seeding in the Top 3 but openly admitted the gap to his great rival Balestri was quite a big one. Dario Balestri has picked up from where he left in free practice yesterday to go quickest in the opening round of seeding at the 1:8 Onroad World Championships in California this morning. The Infinity driver set his fastest three laps before getting caught out by the extra high morning traction with a roll that chunked at rear tyre and ended his run a minute & a half early. Behind the reigning Champion, JJ Wang surprised even himself with the second fastest time, the Mugen driver running in the heat before that of Balestri. Making a return to World Championship action…

Having dominated every session since arriving in Shanghai, Jin Sawada wrapped up the overall win in Modified at Rd1 of the 2019/20 series with victory in A2. This time not having the same problem off the start line, the Infinity driver took the final by nearly 6 seconds in front of a much improved Rocket Zhang, the Serpent driver going on to win A3 from a fast closing Sawada, who started A3 almost half a lap behind the Chinese driver having been put to the back of the grid by race director Rick Wang to give the others a fighting…

The Steel City R/C Raceway of Fontana, California played host to the 2019 Protoform Cup this past weekend, attracting 75 entries for the 1/10th and 1/8th scale classes offered. In Electric Touring Modified it was Xray’s JJ Wang with the overall TQ and also the win in A1 and A2 for an early overall victory from Yokomo’s Randy Caster on the runner-up spot. A hard-charging Rick Hohwart (Team Associated) recovered from P11 on the grid to take the final podium spot from Xray’s Lex Tyler who rounded out the top 4 results. …Open saw Xray’s Bryce Butterfield taking the overall TQ from Mugen’s JJ Wang in 2nd. The latter then held the upper hand in the 30-minute A-main event, taking the win some two laps in front of Capricorn racer Scott Kimbrow while Bryce Butterfield came out in 3rd another lap down. Over in 1/8th Sportsman it was young Jacob Cruz with the overall TQ and he also swept the 30-minute A-main event, leaving behind veteran racer and 8th place qualifier, Rick Wang in 2nd. Timezone Raceway of Battle Ground, Washington played host to the annual Sven Böhringer Family Reunion race, attracting over 150 entries in the six cases of 1/8th Masters, 1/8th Open, GT8, 1/10th 200mm Nitro, Touring Modified and Touring 17.5T Stock. In Touring Modified, drawing nearly 30 entries, it was Xray‘s JJ Wang with the overall TQ some 0.019s in front of Xray teammate, Korey Harbke. After the triple A-main events it was still JJ on top, thanks to winning A2 and A3 for the overall as Korey had to settle for 2nd with 1-2-5 finishes. 8th place qualifier, Yokomo‘s Randy Caster…

Steel City Raceway of Fontana, California played host to the 2019 KO Propo Grand Prix this past weekend. Held in various fuel and electric classes it was Mugen’s JJ Wang with the overall TQ and also the win in the 1/8th Open IC Track category. Veteran racer, Mike Swauger (Xray) came in 2nd, some two laps down on JJ as Infinity driver Christian Lopez rounded out the top 3, only a second behind Mike. The 1/10th 200mm Sedan class had Mike Swauger (Xray) taking the overall TQ, however it was 11th place qualifier, Bryce Butterfield (Xray) with a popular win…

…front right corner off his Infinity. This gave the lead back to Ryan Cavalieri who would see of a late challenge from Volker who ended up P2. Ending yesterday with a win but not happy with his set of tyres, having to use the same tyres again this morning Marc Rheinard would spin out twice in the race and end up 7th. The second encounter would see Akio Sobue register his first win, finishing ahead of early leader Rick Hohwart, Kyle Klingforth and Round 3 winner JJ Wang.
