Andy Báez does the double at Rd6 in Puerto Rico
The sixth round of the Puerto Rico Championship was held at the Barceloneta R/C track last weekend. In the 1/8 scale class it was Andy Báez who was setting the pace in qualifying, taking pole position with the only 15 lap run of the day. In the 30 minute final Andy was leading ahead of Mugen team mate Fernando Méndez and Kyosho driver Pedro Alvarado when he had his front tire come-off twice, allowing Alvarado to take the lead. Some serious recovery laps by Báez allowed him take the advantage of Alvarado’s mistakes to be able to recover and go on to take the race win by 3 laps over 2nd place Fernando Méndez with Pedro Alvarado eventually dropping back to 3rd spot.

In the 1/10 sedan class Mugen team mates Juan Rodriguez and Andy Báez were the only drivers able to do 14 laps in qualifying, with Báez taking the TQ by .0026 of a second over Rodriguez. In the main the pace was set by Andy who led the 40 minutes race from the beginning to end winning the race over team mates, Juan Rodriguez in 2nd and Jesus Rivera in 3rd.

In the 1/8 GT Class the pace was set by Amaury Alvarez with a Ofna DM1 Pro. During the 15 minutes main, lady racer, Zobeida Ocasio led the race over Rafael Irizarry who finished in 2nd with Amaury Alvarez ending in 3rd.
