Rick V & D’Hondt win at Dutch Nats Rd5

Rick V & D'Hondt win at Dutch Nats Rd5

Last weekend saw the 5th round of the Dutch 1/8th scale championship take place at the Raco2000, a new track in the Netherlands. Actually this track was one of the first RC tracks in Holland but was closed in the early 90’s due to several reasons. After a lot of work by a few people in the past years it is fully up and running again and boy, what a track to drive. Sadly the weather decided to let it rain during the whole qualification and so only 41 drivers were trying to set a time to get into the finals.

In the NOMAC class it was Steven Cuypers taking the pole position followed by Wim vd Wind, Michel Janssen and Gunther v. Staey. In the NK class the pole position was taken by Rick V folowed by Peter Ceyssens, Rik Veenma and Arie Manten. After the qualifying sessions the rain stopped but the first subfinals were declared wet and so the best 3 of each final would go over to the main final.

The NOMAC main final was won by Robin d’Hondt who qualified on the 19th spot, Gunther v. Staey became 2nd and Steven Cuypers finished 3rd. The NK final was stopped after 6 minutes due to a computer error. After rebooting there was a restart and finally Rick V took the win folowed by Ilia van Gastel and Tim Bosman. The fastest laptime was set by Ilia van Gastel with a 13.937 and was the only one to make it under the 14 seconds. Rick V is already Dutch champion with one race still left to run.

Thanks to Roelof Tooms for the report.
