Ryan Maifield win RC X-Fest V

Ryan Maifield win RC X-Fest V

For R/C racers Labor Day weekend in Minnesota has become R/C X-Fest weekend. For the 5th annual event 3 of the fastest drivers in the world converged in Cambridge, Minnesota for a weekend of excitement and no-holds barred entertainment. With an event known for a multitude of classes and special events, the R/C X-Fest has become something to remember for all participants. There is always something going on it seems during the X-Fest, like Powder-puff, Big Air Contest, Spud Run, Helicopter night fly, R/C Boat Demo and Mini X Off-road track rental are just a snippet of events available.

Ryan Maifield was in Minnesota to do business as his JConcepts equipped RC8B and RC8T were at the top of the field all weekend. However, it did not come easy in the 1/8th buggy class. Ryan encountered a few problems in qualifying which placed him into uncharted territory, the C-main. Ryan, working together with teammates as the race developed, steadily got faster and ironed out qualifying problems. Once the C-main was up Ryan was ready and was determined to work his way to the A-main the hard way. Winning the C and B-main by multiple laps, Ryan was poised and ready for the A-main. Mounting up a fresh set of JConcepts Crossbows in blue compound proved to be the ticket for the developing conditions for the A-main.

Ryan started near the back of the pack in the A-main but only after 10 minutes he threw down the fastest lap of the main and was fighting for 2nd place. The 45 minute A-main proved to be too much for most of the competition but with plenty of practice from the C and B main, Ryan continued to run down the leader. With 10 minutes to go, Maifield made up critical time on the leader Ryan Lutz and a problem by the leader put Maifield at the front of the pack. Leading out the last 10 minutes and then into victory lane was almost too sweet as Ryan crossed the finish line for yet another win with JConcepts on the 2009 racing tour.
