Mark Green wins BRCA 200mm Nats Rd2

Mark Green wins BRCA 200mm Nats Rd2

Last weekend saw the 3rd round of the British 1/10th gas Nationals take place in Halifax and current national champion Kyle Branson sent us the following report. The weather was good on Saturday with temperatures around 26 degrees, The track had good traction to start with and gradually improved through the day, My car was good at the start but i gradually got understeer and so did Mark Green but he had it worse than me, we seemed to be the only drivers suffering with it, we tried a lot of things but for some reason we couldn’t get the steering back, although the car was still pretty fast by the end of Saturday. On Sunday the car felt better in the first run in the morning but I suffered with a little oversteer which was strange as it had changed from the day before, Mark made some changes in the morning and had made a big improvement in his car. I was TQ in the first qualifying ahead of Mark, in the second Mark got TQ just a second ahead of me in second place and in the final round I managed to improve by just about half a second, this put me one second behind Mark.

Qualifying results:
1. Mark Green – 19/ 312.44
2. Kyle Branson – 19/ 313.38
3. Simon Wood – 18/ 301.15
4. Johnathan Dobney – 18/ 301.44
5. Adam Catchpole – 18/ 301.62
6. Neal King – 18/ 303.37
7. Peter Hastings – 18/ 305.65
8. Joe Kerry – 18/ 308.20
9. Andrew Hastings – 18/ 311.36
10.Alex Thurston – 18/ 313.57

In the final my car felt good in the warm-up, for some reason at the start my car cut out and I had to be restarted which put me in last place, Mark was leading the race and I managed to get back up to second. I was slowly catching him mainly in the pit-stops but as I came to overtake a backmarker for some reason they decieded to slow right down on the racing line which caused me to hit them and I went onto the grass this lost me around 8 seconds. This made me push which caused me to run out of fuel just as I was coming into the pits as we were close on fuel anyway, I got back out in third on the same lap as Adam Catchpole in second I managed to get back up to second and stay there till the end of the race. The race ended with Mark wining, me in second and Adam in third making it a Serpent 1, 2 and 3. Just like to say well done to 11 year old Alex Thurston who drove a good race from 10th on the grid to 5th.

2. Kyle Branson – 105/ 1810.40
