The permanent indoor carpet track at Ardent Raceway was the venue for the BRCA Winter National meeting, qualifying was by FTD with the top thirty two qualifiers going on to race a Reedy style Race of Champions with all drivers using 10.5 pro stock motors. Drivers not making the cut would contest the clubman title. The majority of the top UK national drivers were booked in and full quotas of 102 drivers were led away by current UK national champion Chris Grainger.

Pre event testing during the week leading up to the event showed Andy Moore and Olly Jefferies to be the potential front runners and these two drivers converted that pre event form into solid qualifying performances with Olly taking TQ ahead of Andy and 2010 BRCA Pro Stock champion Jonny Bowden.

The meeting was now split with the top thirty two going on to contest the Race of Champions, while the remaining drivers contested a conventional UK national with round by round qualifying and three finals to decide the clubman’s title. The first three rounds of the Race of Champions saw wins for Andy Moore and Olly Jefferies and the two were matching each, then in round four Olly ripped a wheel off the TC6 and was counting a DNF while Andy went on to take another win.

Round five and the two front runners were matched against each other, a few errors from Olly saw the Associated driver hand the initiative to Andy Moore, Andy taking the win with Olly second, three races left but Olly would need to win all three to take it to a tie break, Andy was driving well and looked relaxed as the Hot Bodies driver piled the pressure on Jefferies.

The Race of Champions was eventually decided on a tie break with Andy Moore getting to vote by virtue of the fastest final time, the enthusiastic spectators had been treated to some great racing in a format not often seen in the UK.

In the clubman’s event John Dawson took FTD ahead of Merv Wignall and Tom Jefferies, the three final were hard fought affairs and as a result of that the overall winner came from seventh on the grid, Chris Neff was consistent across all three finals and took the clubman’s title ahead of junior driver Ben Putt and Mark Williams.
