Ginting & Andriadi win Rd2 in Indonesia

The 2nd round of the Indonesian 1/8th scale National championship and 1/10th scale Jakarta GP series Rd2 was compressed into one day on the newly surface Jakarta International Twin Circuit. Following the new asphalt, the track had awesome grip with the best lap going to be 1 second lower than the times with the previous track surface. In 1/8 qualifying, it was Bowie Ginting with his brand new Xray RX8 in TQ spot, followed by Sadikin Sutrisno also with Xray RX8 2 seconds behind. Toni Kundjung placed his Mugen MRX5 in 3rd spot, 0.4 seconds behind Sadikin. Ricardo Carnadi (Mugen) and Sani Nugroho (Kyosho) completed the top 5.

In 1/10 qualifying, it was Fayakhun Andriadi who put his brand new Kyosho V One R4 in TQ spot, followed by Bowie Ginting with his Xray NT1, only 0.096 seconds behind. Nugroho Sani and Rachmat Moeis, both running Kyosho, followed in 3rd and 4th respectively with one lap gap behind Fayakhun and Bowie. Sani Nugroho’s young brother, Budi Satriyo put his Kyosho in 5th.

In the 1/8 final, Sadikin took the early lead from Bowie who dropped to 4th and was followed by Toni and Sani for the first 5 minutes. Toni Kundjung had a problem with his carburetor at 7 minutes, however at this stage Bowie was already up to 2nd place, 9 seconds gap behind Sadikin. Sadikin’s car started to be bottom out at 25 minutes and caused his front bottom shock holder to touch the asphalt and break. Sadikin had to take an extra pitstop which let Bowie through to lead the race. It was close battle for 2nd place between Hendry and Sani until Hendry broke his suspension arm at 42 minutes. At the end of the race, Bowie took the win followed by Sani, 6 laps back. Hendry, Roby and Sadikin completed the top 5.

In the 1/10 final, Fayakhun and Bowie controlled the field in 1st and 2nd place. At 4 minutes, Bowie was able to overtake Fayakhun and lead the race. Unfortunately, Bowie traction rolled at 7 minutes and his engine flamed out, letting Fayakhun lead with a 1 lap gap. Bowie was back in the race and on 18 minutes, he successfully passed Fayakhun again. Too bad that Bowie’s mechanic missed a refuel call at 25 minutes causing his engine flamed out for the second time. He had to take an extra pitstop which let Fayakhun through again to the lead position. At the end, Fayakhun won the race followed by Bowie, 5 laps back. Budi Satriyo followed in 3rd place, 12 laps behind Bowie. Sani Nugroho and Hendra completed the top 5.
