Richard Lowe wins UK SC Nationals Rd2

Round 2 of the UK Short Course National Series 2011 took place at Eden Park Raceway over the weekend and the Associated SC10 was on fine form as usual. Interest continues to grow with the UK Short Course National Championships supported by CML Distribution, Team Associated, Pro-Line and others. Eden Park Raceway was the host for Round 2 after Richard Lowe won the first round of the 2WD Championship at Silverstone. Again it was Richard Lowe and Tony Truman were the pick of the field as they once again demonstrated the SC10’s dominance in the 2wd class.

Richard dominated qualifying with his Team Associated SC10, winning all four rounds of the Round-by-Round qualifying. Chris Brooke would line up second on the grid with another CML driver, Tony Truman with another Novak powered SC10, taking third place for the main A Final. In the 4WD class Steven Brooke, using the review HoBao Hyper 10SC, also had the perfect day during qualifying, winning all four rounds.

Richard continued his domination in the first leg of the three leg A final, comfortably winning the leg from Tony in second just in front of Chris Brooke. Positions were reversed in the second leg, Tony taking the win a couple of seconds in front of Richard. So going into the third and final leg both CML drivers were in with a chance of the overall victory, Richard was clearly in a determined mood and cleared off to take the leg and overall victory in the 2WD class. Tony had a race long battle with Chris Brooke eventually taking second place and with it second place on the rostrum, Chris Brooke took the third and final place on the rostrum.

In the 4WD class pole position HoBao driver Steven Brooke made an early mistake in the opening leg and couldn’t get the time back having used the kit tyres all day, leaving young Jonathon Wells to take the win, Steve second and Darren Mills third. Steven made some subtle set-up changes after the leg to try and generate some grip and this looked to have worked in both the remaining legs, winning both and so taking the overall victory, Jonathon eventually ended up as runner-up Darren took third on the podium.

After two rounds of the Championship Richard Lowe leads the 2WD class with a perfect score, having TQ’d and won both meetings.
