Taiwan On Road National Championship Rd3

Last weekend saw the 3rd round of Taiwan On Road National Championship take place in central Taiwan, hosted by Titan RC Track. The beautiful beach side and newly refurbished course attracted a total of 73 pilots from all around the island. Classes included 1:8th scale, 1:10th 200m and 1/10th EP 190mm and with the growing popularity of the electric power RC cars the biggest group was EP 1/10th scale which attracted 48 drivers.

In the 1/10 EP Expert Class it saw the winner of first 2 rounds, Leo Chen switched from T3 to the new Serpent S411 looking to continue his winning streak at his home track.  Leo got off to a rough start having encountered some technical issues during his qualification rounds and only managed to qualify third on the grid. After solving those technical issues he was able to gain his normal pace back and took the first 2 finals from 3rd on the grid to remain undefeated in this class. The final leg saw 2nd Qualifier Lee Sheng keep pressure on Top qualifier A Wei all the way and forced him to make a vital mistake at the last minute. Lee went on the take the third leg and second overall with A- Wei finish 3rd.

In the 1/8th GP Expert class, it was much anticipated and expected to be a very close fight. Winner of first 2 rounds Wang, Sheng-Chong got off a good start securing his third consecutive TQ for the main final. The main final saw Wang lead the way early on followed closely by Jones Chu. After 3 mins Jones took the lead, while Wang suffered problems at the 13 minute mark and decided to retire mid race, ending his chance to continue his winning stream. Jones grabbed the lead and never look back headed home for the win with 2nd place went to Wu, Cheng-Chong and 3rd went to local driver Yeh, Tong-Chen.

In the 1/10 GP class, it was young talented Serpent driver Huang, Yi Hau who again showed his dominant pace to take his third straight win from pole position. Behind Huang it was Lin Ming Hui and Chen Chi Hung completed the podium.

The race finished with a nice trophy presentation and prize give away which saw almost everyone go home with some nice new toys.
