Root double at Thanksgiving Throwdown Rd1

TLR and Losi’s Frank Root, Cody Turner and Trevor Adamo were on hand at the opening round of the Thanksgiving Throwdown Series Saturday at West Coast R/C Raceway (WCRC). The track had fantastic traction, and a really fun and technical layout and the entry count was very strong at just over 150 and a great day of racing was had by all.

There were 3 full heats of modified 2wd buggy and the qualifying action was intense. Frank Root had a quick run in the first round to take the early TQ. The second round saw Frank have a rough run and Cody Turner would capitalize with a clean run and take a new TQ time. When the dust had settled, Turner was TQ with Root 2nd and Adamo 5th on the grid. When the tone went off, Root quickly moved to the lead, while Turner had an issue and dropped all the way back to 10th. Frank had a slight bobble and surrendered the lead, but only for a lap. After regaining the lead, Frank would pull away with quick lap times, and cruise home for the win. Meanwhile, Trevor had raced his way into the 3rd spot, just in front of Turner who rallied from an early race set back.

In Pro2 Frank’s Losi XXX-SCT equipped with the TLR Tuned Kit was untouchable all day. Frank would take the TQ in both rounds of qualifying, with teammate Cody Turner in 2nd.  Frank started on form at the sound of the tone and quickly pulled out from the field, leaving the battle for 2nd place.  Privateer Chase finished 2nd with his Losi XXX-SCT giving the XXX-SCT the top 2 steps of the podium.
