KM World Cup Hong Kong selection race Rd4

The fourth round of the KM World Cup Hong Kong selection race series took place at the modified PYC track at mild temperatures and sunny weather. After three rounds of qualifying the four drivers that made it directly into the A finale were Eddie Chu (H-K1), Lei Kai Chio (NT1), Lung (H-K1) and Ray Leung Chun Wai (H-K1). The semi finals saw lots of fights for the remaining positions in the A final as every driver was eager to get an entry for the first KM World Cup final in Thailand. KM China driver Jiang Dong showed a good pace and despite a lack of practice won the 1/2 final B.

The A final was started quite smoothly with Eddie leading for the first 10 minutes but a crash and a resulting flame out cost him 2 laps, and despite a hard chase for a podium spot he only managed to finish in fourth place. This was the chance for Ray and Lei who were only separated by a few seconds for almost the whole race. Ray was able to pull away a bit in the final minutes as Lei struggles with tyres. PYC track manager Ho Chi Yuen was able to move up to third place despite running a borrowed car and suffering from a lack of practice. After the price giving ceremony KM held a raffle with KM goods and also 12 bottles of Rapicon fuel given by Mr. Cheung. All drivers are now looking forward to the next round at the ACO were the new KM race format “harmony style” is used for the finals.
