Law & Bruce take victory at FSEARA Rd5

Round 5 of the FSEARA (Florida State Electric Auto Racing Association) series took place at K-Raceway in Kissimmee, FL, the same track as the 2004 IFMAR 1/10 & 1/12 worlds. FSEARA at K-Raceway is the event that most racers are waiting for all year and George Martinez did an amazing job in getting the track ready for the weekend. Due to the fast s-turn before the straight, there were many accidents during practices and another problem racers had was overheating motors, the long back straight requiring racers to hold full throttle for 5 sec. With the Florida heat the average temperature of the motor was 200F degree.

In Modified, it was the Felix Law show all weekend with his Hot Bodies TCX. With the only 22 lap run & a new track record of 13.7sec, Felix showed his speed by destroying last years track record by over a second on the same layout. The closest driver to Felix was Cory Parsons follow by Michael Bruce. In the A main, Felix took advantage of the pole position & led the field while the battle for second between Cory & Michael continued. At the half way mark, Cory’s Xray had a motor failure allowing Michael to take 2nd. In the last min of the race, Felix had a 5 sec lead on second but made a mistake on the switch back & flipped over. That mistake allowed Michael to take the lead with 45 seconds left in the race. Felix quickly recovered & the intense battle began. The Team Power 4.0 motor allowed Felix to quickly catch up with Michael and he made a pass at the end of the straight with less than 2 laps to go to take the win. Michael Bruce finish 2nd only 1 second behind & TJ Lathrop finish 3rd.

In Pro Stock, it was an intense qualifying between the top 3 drivers. In the 1st round of qualifying, Corally driver TJ Bradley driving the all new HMX took the early lead. In the 2nd qualifier there were 6 other drivers on pace to beat TJ’s TQ, but all had a motor failure. In the 3rd qualifier, Troy Schafer driving the Associated TC6 had the lead the entire qualifier on TQ pace. Just about finished, Michael Bruce driving the Tamiya 417x took the lead & got the overall TQ on the last lap. The top 3 drivers were separated by only .002 sec. In the A main all 3 drivers kept their pace just like in qualifying, Michael had the early lead, but troy didn’t let him off early in the race. While those 2 battled, TJ had another challenge from Dave Franklin. At the half way mark, Michael using his Revtech 17.5 high TQ 12.3 rotor motor was able to keep his temp right below 200F, while Troy had a problem with motor temp, falling off pace. TJ slowly caught up with Troy for the battle of 2nd to the end. Finally, Michael Bruce took 1st by 1 second over Troy Schafer in 2nd who was only .4sec ahead of TJ Bradley in 3rd.
