Round 2 of the South African On Road Gas Championships were held last weekend at the coastal city of East London. Rain on Thursday practice reduced setup time to just one day, and with high traction and fast sweepers fuel consumption and setup was critical. Reigning 1/8th scale SA champion Wayne Joelson, driving a Novarossi powered Mugen MRX5 took the top qualifying position with a 26 lapper in 5m12 for Sundays final, setting a new lap record of 11.1 seconds along the way. In the reduced 30 minute final Wayne ran 141 laps, to finish 11 laps ahead of 2nd position. The next round will be held in Durban on the 30th of June.
