Glyn Beal wins Rd3 of BRCA Sports GT series

For Round 3 of the BRCA 1/10th Sports GT Championship, the series visited the newly renovated Halifax track. With the track due to hold the 1/8th European Championships later this year, a new raised pit lane and covered pit area have been introduced to raise the clubs profile. The weather forecast for the weekend was for hot temperatures on both days and the Sports GT class saw 17 entries. On Saturday it was the unbeaten Glyn Beal setting the pace with Adam Crossland and Ryk Pryke continuing their good form from Wombwell and those 3 drivers would also make up the top 3 qualifiers after 4 rounds on Sunday.

The Sports GT A Final was set to be an exciting affair with Glyn Beal on pole. Glyn led away followed by teammates Adam Crossland and Richard Boult, the latter who made a move on Ryk Pryke at the start. On Lap 3 Richard made a move on Adam, to move into 2nd place, the move paid off until Richard hit troubles allowing Adam back through. A few laps later Adam dropped back behind the Xray pairing of Ryk Pryke and David Gerard.  The Top 3 stayed the same until around Lap 24 when a climbing Adam managed to get past David for 3rd position. On Lap 25 Ryk moved into the lead ahead of Glyn and Adam. Glyn reinstated his position at the top on Lap 38 and held his lead to win by 2 laps.  The battle for 2nd was still heating up, Adam and Ryk swapped positions until Lap 71 until Ben Lungley got past Adam for 3rd position. On Lap 96 the Serpent duo of Ben and Adam leap-frogged Ryk leaving him 4th.  Glyn took the win ahead of Ben and Adam all using Serpent 747’s and Xceed engines and tyres. 4th and 5th went to the Xray NT1’s of David Gerard and Ryk Pryke respectively.

This result means that Glyn Beal retains his unbeaten record in the 2013 season.  He sits at the top of the Championship table with 303 points. Adam Crossland holds 2nd place with 293 points and Ryk Pryke is 3rd with 291 points.
