Vrielijnck makes it 2 from 2 in Dutch 1/8th Nationals

Last weekend the 1/8 onroad Dutch nationals were held on the very bumpy track of Groningen in the far north of Holland. The weather forecast predicted lots of rain for the whole weekend but turned out to be just some showers during the training days and a full dry and sunny race day, with just a drying track at the start of the first qualification session. At the end of NK qualification it was RickV making the fastest time taking the pole for the A semi final folowed by Robin d’Hondt who had the pole for the B semi final. Further on in the qualification ranking they were folowed by Steven Cuypers, John Ermen, Gunther v. Steay and Danny Leewis. After 2 very fast and thrilling semi finals the main final had RickV on pole. At the start of the main final RickV had a good start and was pulling away followed by John Ermen, Gunther v. Steay and Robin d’Hondt. Gunther had to retire after 20 minutes of the 30 minutes final promoting Robin to 3rd.

In the NOMAC class it was Patrick Vanieuwenhuyse making the fastest time and with that taking the pole for the A semi final folowed by Richard Keur taking the pole for the B semi final. They were folowed by Benny Ciere, Dennis van Lammeren, Ad Vissenberg and Andy Muijres. A nice and interesting detail was that both Richard and Dennis were driving the very affordable standard Novarossi N21-5T engine and the new Hipex low noise exhaust system, they have proven that cheap racing with good results is possible.

After the 2 semi finals the main final was determined with Patrick Vanieuwenhuyse on pole. Patrick had a clear start and could open a 2 lap gap to win. He was folowed by Dennis van Lammeren and with another 2 lap distance it was Jeroen van Ieperen taking the 3rd podium finish.
