Glyn Beal takes BRCA Sports GT British Championship

Glyn Beal takes BRCA Sports GT British Championship

Last weekend saw the Mendip circuit near the seaside resort of Western Super Mare as the destination for round 6 of the BRCA Sports GT Championship. The weather was set to be very hot for the weekend with temperatures approaching 30°C. Saturday started off with a very dusty and low grip track, which struggled to rubber in, so the grip remained low. Sunday morning dawned and the temperatures were still very high. By round 2 Glyn Beal (Serpent) was setting the first of a series of 18 lap qualifiers. No-one else came close with the next three places all on fast 17 laps and split by just half a second.

The final lined up with Glyn on pole and planning to secure the 2013 championship after only the first six rounds. Glyn and Adam Crossland got a good clean start holding 1st and 3rd by the end of the first lap with Adam pressing hard to move up a place. When the first of the Xray cars hit problems at just 10 minutes Adam moved into 2nd spot which he was to hold until the end of the race. Meanwhile Glyn was out in the lead steadily pulling away from the pack looking to settle the Championship fight. At the end of the 30 minute Glyn Beal was over the moon, winning the A final and also the British Championship with three rounds still to go.
