Van Elmond & Konnings win at BNK Rd5

The fifth round of the coupled Belgian and Dutch BNK electric off-road championship took place at the ORRA track in Arendonk in the North of Belgium. The UK-style astro turf track offered a very challenging layout and despite being flooded on Saturday night by heavy rain the track was fully prepped for Sunday’s race. The meeting saw a good turnout on racers with 50 drivers in 2WD buggy and 30 contenders in 4WD. In the 2WD class Euro A finalist Westley Van Elmond (TLR) TQ’d and won the race chased by Wouter Wijnen who raced his Yokomo buggy for the first time at this event. The third place went to Risser Nicolas (Kyosho) who had some setup issues but he finally found his way up in the field after qualifying fifth. The fourth and fifth place overall went to John Debaquer (X Factory) and Nick Wijers. In the 4WD class Jean-Yves Konnings (Xray) was the dominant driver, followed by local Martin Kempeneers (Kyosho) and Frederic Munoz (Kyosho). Current championship leader Erik Michiels was on a day off and lost the championship lead by one point, having JY Konnings leading the championships now. The next BNK race will be in Bergenhoek, NL.
