5th annual Summer Showdown – Report

The fifth annual running of the Summer Showdown was at Clark RC Park just outside of Reeseville, WI. Running the show and on the microphone once again was the one and only Scotty Ernst, who ran a flawless program. The combination of a well groomed track and perfect weather all day made for great racing from qualifying to the A-Main. Qualifying was close and many TQ’s were set in the final round. 1/10 2wd Buggy saw Cole Tollard put on a display of amazing driving with his Associated buggy and take the TQ as the only driver to get a 9 lap run in the class. The main was not much different with Cole out pacing the field to take home the win. 2nd place would go to Michael Meister and 3rd place would be Ted Schmidt.

1/10 2wd Truck saw more of the same from Cole Tollard and his Team Associated arsenal. His truck set a pace no one else could match and took the TQ. He also ran a flawless race and took the win with two laps on the field. Kurt Schmidt would come home 2nd and Blair Tischaefer would get the 3rd spot.

1/10 2wd Short Course brought out some great drivers battling for the top spot but it was Nick Bille who would get the TQ running strong all day. Starting the main out front had a rough go of it on lap two but quickly rebounded and never looked back. Nick Bille would take the win with Mike Aschilman taking the 2nd spot. Rich Beatty would end up in the 3rd spot.

1/10 4×4 Short Course saw Aric Seffrood out pace the field for the top spot in qualifying but it was Micheal Meister who would steal the show. Meister ran a great race with very few mistakes and took home the win in the A main. Seffrood would end up coming in 2nd place and 3rd would go to Steve Richter.

In 1/8 Pro Truggy Aric Seffrood took TQ honors with a strong run in the 3rd round driving a Serpent truggy followed closely by Jeremy Whiting. Seffrood would then dominate the A main getting out in clean air and staying out front the entire race. A great battle for 2nd followed between the Serpent truck of Jeremy Whiting and the Kyosho of Jeff Wood in which Whiting got the better of. In the closing minutes of the race Whiting had an amazing charge back to try and challenge Aric for the lead but fell short on time. Aric Seffrood took home the win with Jeremy Whiting in 2nd and Jeff Wood taking 3rd.

1/8 Pro Buggy brought in talent from all over the midwest but it was Cole Tollard driving a Team Associated buggy stealing the spotlight and claiming TQ in the final round by fractions of a second over Serpent driver Jeremy Whiting. In the A main however it was Jeremy Whiting who would run a flawless race to take the top spot on the podium. Cole Tollard would come home in 2nd and Greg Baumel’s Losi would take the 3rd spot.

1/8 Electric Truggy saw Daryl Frank take TQ in the 3rd round with Mike Aschilman following closely. But in the main it would be the opposite Mike Aschilman took the lead on the second lap and never looked back taking the win it the E-Truggy class. Daryl Frank would end up in the 2 spot and Thomas Hill would take home 3rd place.

1/8 Electric Buggy was the largest class of the day and had some of the toughest competition all day. CJ Greeves would take the TQ in the 3rd round of qualifying with a solid 10 lap pace. Greeves would start out front but have a bad first lap dropping him to the back of the field leaving Paul Remias and Erik Jensen to battle for the lead. Erik would take the top spot from Remias with just two laps remaining and hold off to win by a very narrow margin. Paul Remias would come home 2nd and Mike Aschilman would get 3rd.

1/8 Intermediate Truggy saw a close battle for the top spot between Travis Stensrud and Matthew Dickinson. Qualifying was close and the two fought hard but it was Stensrud who would take the TQ. In the main Stensrud started out front but a few mistakes gave Dickinson the lead who looked to have it locked up until he suffered a mechanical failure taking him out of the race. Travis Stensrud would take the win with Ken Spencer in 2nd and Moto Matt in 3rd.

5th annual Summer Showdown – Report

1/8 Intermediate Buggy had close battles all day but it was Micheal Meister would get the TQ. A very close race in the main with the top 4 all on the lead lap but it would be 2nd qualifier Joe Coconate who would get the win. Top qualifier Micheal Meister would come home 2nd and Skip Crain would drive all the way from the 8th spot to take home 3rd.
