Gadermayer & Pfeifhofer win at Austrian nats Rd3
Last weekend saw the third round of the Austrian 1/10th off-road nationals held in Salzburg, after catastrophic weather conditions lead to a cancellation of round two in Steyregg. The biggest challenge for the racers was the extremely loose track, some of the locals raced old B4 cars with brushed speed controller and motors or only 1S LiPo batteries in the 2WD class. After four rounds of qualifying it was former Euro A-finalist Michael Gademayer who placed his Team Associated B4 with an old Nosram Dominator speedo and Reedy 12×1 motor on the TQ spot in 2WD and Hupo Hönigl (Team Durango) TQ’d three out of four rounds in 4WD.

The 2WD finals were dominated by Michael Gadermayer with three wins in the finals. Team Durango’s Hupo Hönigl secured a never challenged second spot with Team Associated’s Stefan Pfeifhofer completing the podium.

In 4WD it was a closer battle between the top 5. Stefan Pfeifhofer managed to win leg one in front of Roland Schantel and Michael Gadermayer. After a better start from Hupo into the second A-final the Team Durango driver never looked back and scored a win with Yokomo’s Rene Trauner in second and Stefan Pfeifhofer in third position. For the last A-final four drivers were able to secure the overall win. To make things even more exciting a thunderstorm came down just at the beginning of the last A-final. The rain and the on-track battle started and after half a lap a wheel on Hupo’s buggy came loose and to make things even more worse Hupo got T-boned by Stefan who was too close behind the Durango to bypass him. Michael Gadermayer went onto the inside and passed both with the confusion behind him leaving him enough room to cruise to the win later on. Stefan Pfeifhofer brought home a second place that was enough to hand him the overall win in the 4WD class. Second place overall went to Michael Gadermayer and Hupo completed the podium.
