Fransson & Hard win at Swedish Cup

Fransson & Hard win at Swedish Cup

The final round of the Swedish nitro on-road cup took place in Gothenburg at the famous Väst-8 track. It looks like this was the last race at this track, most likely it will be removed next year but the club is busy finding an alternative location for the track. As for the race, due to the risk of rain on Sunday it was decided to hold the qualifying and finals on Saturday making it a one day event which worked out very well. After qualifying the top 4 of the 1/8th class saw Marcus Lindner (Shepherd) in front of Mikael Fransson (Serpent), Lars Haugen (Xray) and Karl Ullenius (Xray). In 1/10th 200mm Markus Hellquist took TQ in front of Per-Ola Hard (Serpent), Andreas Husman (Mugen) and Martin Åberg (Serpent).

The finals were run on Saturday afternoon and in mostly dry conditions. In the 200mm class Per-Ola Hard put his Serpent 747 in the first place followed by Martin Åberg and Erika Hellquist. The 1/8th final started dry also but a couple of rain drops made things uncertain. But the wet stuff soon disappeared and the final continued on a dry track. At the end it was Mikael Fransson who took the win in front of Magnus Bengtsson (Mugen) and Marcus Lindner.

In the overall championship Markus Hellquist (Xray) took the 1/10th 200mm championship three points ahead of Per-Ola Hard (Serpent) and Andreas Husman (Mugen) while Marcus Lindner (Shepherd) earned the 1/8th title honours with Mikael Fransson (Serpent) and Bengt Andersson (Serpent) taking second and third overall.
