Midwest Indoor Championship – Report

Midwest Indoor Championship – Report

For the 3rd consecutive year, the newly constructed Genesis RC Raceway in Marshall, Minnesota hosted the Midwest Indoor Championship. With racers attending from Canada and 7 states through out the upper Midwest, the race fell victim to some of the top drivers in the county in their respected classes. After four rounds of very tight qualifying, the mains were set and first up was the WGT class. The TQ holder Tony Block broke out and was able to hold on for the win with current national champion and CRC teammate Randy Grosse taking 2nd and John Wiita rounding out the podium.

Second to run was the highly contested 1/12 class. With 4 out of the top 5 drivers from the recent IIC in Vegas participating in this event as well, the competition was stacked. The TQ holder and CRC driver John Wiita was able to hold the position and take a 2 second win with fellow CRC teammate Tony Block finishing 2nd and John Peck in the 3rd spot. Lastly was the touring cars. Factory Xray driver Paul Lemieux was on point with his TQ and was able to hold off Bill Sydor and Dustin Layne who finished 2nd and 3rd.
