BRCA Clubman Series 2014 Rd2 – Report

Round 2 of the BRCA Clubman Series 2014 saw mixed weather conditions at the midlands track of Bedworth. Saturday practice seen drivers try to fine tune with great difficulty their cars to run round the technical bumpy track which at some points could be wet and then could be dry. Round 1 of qualifying started on the Sunday which seen clouds which lasted all day however the day started with a wet track with rain on and off all the time. All cars were on the wet tyre which meant it was round by round type qualifying to help with the unpredictable weather. In 17.5, Mark Bristow was showing how well he knew the track and his ability to compensate with a wet track and TQ’d the round where in 13.5 Luke Burr came on top well known for how fast he can get his car round the track in the tricky conditions.

Round 2 started with the wet weather easing off and the track started to dry all through the round which challenged the drivers to choose with tyres to go on to suit the ever changing track. In 17.5, Jason Butterfield now shows his pace going 2 seconds faster than local man Mark Bristow. Looking into 13.5, the last race of round 2 saw a dry track and dry cars come out and Liam Brooks set an awesome time to TQ.

Round 3 came to see who would come out on top of qualifying and sort out the grid for the finals. The track stayed dry throughout and seen the times get even faster. 17.5 seen Dominic Skinner FTQ the well known blinky class 1 second in front of Mark Bristow which both shown amazing pace. On the other side, 13.5 shown the others racers how fast things can get with the open speedos. Liam Brooks also a local driver drove an amazing race setting the fastest time of the day putting him at the top of the grid for the finals.

In the A final of the 17.5 class, the track staying dry for the rest of the day which left the drivers nothing to worry about except driving. Dominic Skinner showing his dominance and coming 2nd and 1st which means he won overall with some great racing between himself and Mark Bristow in the final round showing how much respect the two drivers have for themselves.

In the A final of the 13.5 class, Liam Brooks also showing his local knowledge of the track winning both finals with ease just letting the rest of the pack to sort who was going to take 2nd and 3rd. Dale Burr also a local driver showed great pace and keeping Liam on edge for the first few laps but stayed 2nd with Andrew Robson taking the 3rd spot.
