David Ronnefalk wins rain-hit Swedish Cup Rd 1

The first round of the Swedish 1/8th off-road cup was run in Skövde this past weekend. Due to constant rain during the week the track was flooded when the drivers arrived on Friday evening and the organisers quickly tried to dry the track on Saturday morning, but come the first practice round it was still very wet and only a few drivers opted to run on the saw dust covered track. When the second round started things became better and most of the drivers tried to get some laps in before the qualifying.

In the first round of qualifying it was Kyosho’s David Ronnefalk who set a first benchmark with a time 17 seconds faster than second placed Marcus Sandberg, despite having to minor mistakes in the run. He then also went on to win the other three qualifying rounds handing him the overall TQ for the final. When arriving on the track on Sunday morning the drivers where again faced with a very muddy track and in a short meeting the drivers voted for a cancellation of the race as the track did not allow for a proper running. Therefore the qualifying results where taken to determine the winner of round 1 handing David Ronnefalk the win from Andreas Edvinsson (Mugen) and Christoffer Svensson (Kyosho)
