Jesse Davis wins at Asian On-Road Series Melbourne

Jesse Davis wins at Asian On-Road Series Melbourne

Leading in to the Melbourne round of this year’s AOC event, everyone’s pick was former World Champion Andy Moore, who made the trip from the UK to battle it out with Australia’s best. Practice on the Thursday left everyone speechless when Australia’s newest edition to Xray, Jesse Davis was 0.4s a lap faster than the World Champ Andy Moore. Come Friday, the competition got tougher, and VBC Star Ryan Maker was in full contention to take on the WC, and let Jesse Davis know this is his track and he is here to stamp his authority. Qualifying commenced on the Friday night and Ryan Maker was to TQ the first round.

Come Saturday, the grip just kept on getting higher and higher, and everyone was caught out, and having to change setup every run, purely to stop traction rolling. This created one of the most exciting races in Australian history as leading in to the final round, there were 7 drivers could still TQ. Ultimately it was home favourite Ryan Maker taking TQ honours from Jesse Davis in 2nd and Jordan Cullis in 3rd.

Come the finals, the grip was still getting higher and higher and cars were flying left, right and centre, and Ryan Maker took an early lead, only for a hard charging Jesse Davis to keep on his tail and make for an interesting race. In a cruel twist of fate Ryan Maker was taken out by a back markers car who flipped and landed on top of Ryan meaning Jesse Davis would take A1.

A2 was just as interesting and Ryan and Jesse took to an early lead and the ever hard charging Jesse Davis was not giving Ryan any freedom, pushing him harder lap by lap, which then forced a rare error from the Melbourne Maestro who traction rolled and was out of contention for A2, however that did not make things any easier for Jesse, as he was given a taste of his own medicine from former World Champ Andy Moore, who was chasing him down at warp speed, and giving the Xray driver a taste of pressure from the top, it was an epic display of cool, calm and collectiveness from Jesse who held off the former World Champ to take the win in A2 and the title of the AOC Melbourne 2014. In the final result Ryan Maker came in 2nd while Andy Moore completed the podium in 3rd.
