Following a first teaser image Xray now officially introduce their latest 1/8th E-buggy class contender, the XB8E. Building on the successful XB8 platform and featuring an optimised weight distribution the XB8 has been long-term tested by Xray’s European Championship winning drivers such as Martin Bayer, Miguel Matias and Reno Savoya. The buggy is based on an all-new 3mm 7075-T6 aluminium chassis that sports strategically positioned milled-out section for optimised flex and lowest weight while re-designed composite side guards keep dirt and debris away from the chassis internals.

A new weight distribution is achieved by placing the centre differential with motor mount and the receiver battery box in a more forward position. The RX box and steering servo mount are connected and taken out of the chassis after undoing only 3 screws, reducing maintenance and cleaning time to a minimum. Also new is a 2mm wider sliding motor mount for improved durability without adding unnecessary weight. Another part that received a make-over is the composite battery tray that now sports higher barriers for a more secure fitment of the dual 2S or single 4S battery.

On the drivetrain side of things the XB8 is equipped with three oil-filled gear differentials, front, centre and rear CVD driveshafts and lightweight differential outdrives with all steel parts being made from Hudy spring steel. Also made from this material is the kit’s 46T spur gear.

The suspension sports Xray’s XPBS pivot ball suspension up front with a conventional rear hub design. All parts are taken over from the nitro-powered XB8 which limits the amount of parts for drivers who race both nitro and electric classes. Aluminium suspension mounts with composite inserts allow the easy adjustment of toe and kick-up angles without the need to use aftermarket parts. The kit is rounded out by a set of all-aluminium shock absorbers, a low downforce cab forward body and a downforce rear wing.
